Chapter 2: The Flashback

How can you forget someone you once loved?

Chapter 2

Edd went on with his morning routine. Part of his routine was to always check the extra room inside of his apartment after washing his face even if he knows it's empty. He doesn't know the reason why he does that and why he bought an apartment with two bedrooms but he didn't mind it at all.

As soon as he opened the bedroom door, he noticed how dark the room is even in the morning. He immediately opened the dark brown curtains, giving it a fresh glimpse of sunlight. The room finally became bright.

Edd went downstairs to cook his own breakfast. He opened the fridge to see what ingredients are left and what he should do with it. The only thing he could see was a piece of egg and a carton of fresh milk, which left him with no choice but to use it. Edd placed the milk on the dining table and went to the kitchen to fry the egg.

As soon as he cracked the egg on the pan, his head started to hurt. He laid on the floor while grabbing his hair as he lost his strength because of the pain. Suddenly, he heard a sweet voice of a woman.

"Hon! Look, I made breakfast for you. Hurry up and sit down, you'll be late for work." The woman said.

The woman was the same as the woman who appears on his dreams every Saturday. She has butterfly tattoos on her arm, wearing an oversized white shirt with her brown hair tied up on a messy bun. But the face still wasn't clear.

Edd sensed that something was burning. It was the smell of a burning egg that he was planning to eat for breakfast. Edd immediately turned off the stove and threw the burned egg away. He opened up the cabinets to look for other food and sat down holding a box of cereal and a glass bowl and placed it on the table.

As he was pouring the milk on his bowl, he recalls what happened to him earlier; how he laid on the floor with no strength at all and how he had a flashback in broad daylight. It was like a memory that was forgotten. The scene he remembered was like the continuation of his dreams.

He was too busy thinking about it that he didn't notice that the milk was already flowing. Lots of milk were wasted and it was the last carton in his fridge. Edd immediately stood up as soon as he came back to his senses and wiped the dripping milk on the floor. He went upstairs to change his clothes and decided not to eat his breakfast anymore since he will be late for work. Edd locked the doors and drove his car.

Edd became busy with his work that he forgot that it was already time to go home. His boss approached him and tapped him on the back, telling him not to overwork himself. Edd just smiled and organized the papers on his desk.
He looked around to see how the other employees are doing and checked if he left something behind. When he looked under his desk, he noticed a small drawer that was locked. He tried to find the key for the drawer but was not able to find it.

Edd rode his car, looking confused and disappointed. He's very curious as to why it was locked and what's inside of it. He carefully checked the compartments of his car and luckily, found a key. He immediately went back to the office and checked if the key fits. He was able to unlock the drawer and was surprised to see a thick notebook inside.
