Over that next week I focused on the songs I was going to sing at the Halloween party. I practiced day in and day out stopping only when I had to work or take care of my daughter. When that night came, I found myself in my private dressing room getting ready for the group performance. Bobby helped me tie the pink and black corset I was wearing while I finished curling my long light brown hair.

"How are you feeling?" he asked me as I touched my belly, noticing for the first time that a slight pudge that had formed.

"I'm good mentally and emotionally," I said. "Physically I've been feeling sick off and on."

Bobby nodded and finished tying the lace on my back. "Is it the corset? I feel like it was looser on you the last time you tried it on,"

I sighed, "No I just don't think I've been eating right."

"Oh, you've always had that problem, when will you learn girl." He asked.

I laughed and took a seat so I could finish my make-up. I was dressed as a sexy saloon girl as well as the other girls who were dancing with me. We were going to be singing an old western song that would not only get the party jumping, but would get me ready for the last song of the night.

"Alright girl, you look fabulous." Bobby said as he stepped back to admire his work. "Are you sure you're feeling up to doing this?"

"Of course," I said. "I always feel fine when I go out on stage."

Bobby smiled, "I always knew you were a great performer."

"Thanks Bobby," I said before hugging him. "I'll see you out there."

He nodded and headed off to the other dressing room to help get the other girls get ready. I looked at myself in the mirror and then headed out of my room. Upon opening my door, I nearly ran into Bill who was in the hallway talking to someone else from my past. My heart nearly dropped at the sight of my mother's ex or whatever he was to her now.

He looked at me with a smirk and then chuckled, "Well. Well, well…if it isn't the woman who ran out on the man she claimed to love. I didn't think you were into young girls like her Bill."

I folded my arms and leaned against the doorway as Bill glanced at me, "I'm not with him Kevin…he's my boss."

"Oh, you know this girl Kevin?" Bill asked with a smile. "She's one of my best singers."

Kevin rubbed his chin, "Singer huh? I was under the impression she was a stripper or whatever."

I sighed, "Look whatever story you heard about me isn't true Kevin. I would have never walked out on my child and Mark like that….I was taken from them."

"Yeah that's what whores all say when their lies are exposed. Haven't you had enough of the lying game?"

"Wow Kev, that'll be enough. I don't need my top star upset before she goes on stage." Bill said as he guided me to leave.

"Sorry Bill…" Kevin said as he took a drink of his whiskey.

Without another word I marched down the hall to the backstage area wondering why in the hell he was here. I didn't think that night could get any worse until it was time for me and the girls to grace the stage. The moment the curtain opened and music started I found myself staring into a familiar crowd, the very same crowd I performed for last Christmas. I had to keep myself from getting distracted by the glances from a few people who recognized me. Luckily, I didn't see Mark anywhere so that made it easier to get through. Once that song was over, the crowd erupted into cheers as we scurried off to our dressing rooms to get ready for our individual songs. The song I was singing was one that would definitely make me emotional. It spoke of being forever connected to someone even when you've tried to find your way away from the person.
