"Holly!" Bill screamed as he came into the house. "Holly come back! I swear I'll be nice to you! We don't have to fight like this!"

I clutched my baby against my body and sat down in the corner of the room. All I wanted him to do was leave me alone so I could leave his house quietly, but I knew it would be awhile until he settled down. On top of that he continued to call out to me but as Holly...not Carmen. I couldn't understand why he kept calling me that or why he thought I was her at all. Maybe he had a mental condition that was set off when I moved in? Or maybe just maybe...he's crazy.

"Listen baby, I just worry about you. I want what's best for you and the child you're carrying." He said as he stomped around downstairs. "Mark does nothing but tortures you and makes you feel like you're not worth anything....that bastard!"

I shrieked and Aaliyah began to cry when I heard a loud bang come from beneath us. What was he doing down there? I closed my eyes and listened to his footsteps carefully, trying to pinpoint his location.

"He took you to that party and let those men come in and do whatever the hell they wanted to do to you! Now you're pregnant and I want to make him pay!" he screamed before another loud bang sounded.

I rubbed Aaliyah's back and rocked her, trying to calm her down as fast as I could. As far as I knew Bill was reliving something from his past and if I were to be caught...I could very well be a dead woman. It was suddenly quiet in the house making me even more nervous. I sat incredibly still and waited for something to happen, but nothing came.

I shifted my now silenced baby in my arms and slowly got up from the floor. I had taken one step away from the wall before the door came flying open making me scream in fear. Bill stood there with a long barrel shotgun pointed directly at me. A deranged smile formed on his face before he laughed and said, "I found you..."

I closed my eyes and clutched my baby close to my body. This was it...this was how my life was going to end. I couldn't believe I actually thought that for once I had found happiness or peace. I was about to experience peace...eternal peace at the hands of a deranged man. That's when it happened...the unthinkable...

I heard the sound of a glass object shatter and then an abrupt thud. When I opened my eyes, I saw the last person I was with before I came home...the man I had just shared my body with just an hour ago...He looked at me with a blank stare at first and then relief took him over.

"Come on...we have to get you out of here." He said.

I nodded with tears in my eyes and quickly followed him out of the house. "I thought I told you not to follow me?"

He smirked at me as he climbed into the driver's seat and started the truck. "You of all people should know that I wasn't letting you go anywhere by yourself....not anymore."

I glanced at him with a hint of appreciation. "Thank you."

"For what? Loving you?" he asked as he turned the truck around and heading down the road. "Don't thank me for doing something I should done a long time ago..."

I nodded and looked out the window, "So how did you know I was in danger?"

"As I said before...I know Bill." He said. "And you are closer to him than I thought."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "What do you mean?"

He became silent for a moment and then took the exit for San Antonio, Texas.
