After that day, you'd been seeing Hawks all around the city, usually on patrol with your father or another pro hero. Sometimes you saw him patrol alone, watching over the streets. You wondered if some investigation was going on as Hawks usually wasn't in this region of Japan.
At home you were lonely. All of your family were gone, at jobs or school or missing. You didn't believe Toya was dead like most of your family did. Even still, you refused to think of your missing brother. You sighed and laid down on the couch. Remembering Toya made you vaguely remember everything else. You didn't want to remember. You just wanted a happy family like everyone else had.
You were about to turn on the TV when Fuyumi and Natsuo came home. You jumped up and rushed over to your twin brother, tackling him with a hug. He stumbled a bit but still stood and hugged you back. It'd been so long since you'd seen him. You let go and took a step back before asking, "W-why are you here? Is it some kind of special occasion?"
"We're gonna go visit mom, I had to be here," He smiled.
You turned to your older sister, upset that she didn't tell you about this, "You didn't tell me we were going to see mom!"
"I wanted to surprise you! Now go change, I don't want mom to see you dressed in sweatpants and a tank top," She told you, at which you obeyed.
You briskly walked to your room and threw open your closet. You grabbed a light blue t-shirt and some gray jeans. You changed into the clothes and threw on a gray jacket as well. You even brushed your hair and put it up in a messy bun.
"I'm ready to go," You called out, running out of your room.
The three of you walked out of the house, Fuyumi locked the door, and all got in the back of a car.
"I can't wait to see mom again! It's been so long!" You were excited, really excited.
"Yeah, I just wish Shoto could come with us," Fuyumi chimed.
"Oh yeah, Natsuo, how's college been?" You asked. You had been wondering why he hadn't been keeping in touch for a while.
"It's going pretty good, I met this girl at a seminar-"
"You got a girlfriend?" You gasped. "That's why you haven't been responding to your messages then."
Natsuo's face slightly reddened. "Uh... It's not just that! College takes a lot of dedication and-"
"Save it! We're almost at the hospital anyway," You stopped him as the building came into view.
The three of you got out of the car, you lingered just slightly behind your sister and twin. Fuyumi was speaking with the receptionist who told her where your mother's room was. As soon as you heard the room number you abandoned your family to get to your mother first.
"Y/N!" Fuyumi called after you but you were already at the elevator. The doors opened and you threw yourself into the elevator and quickly pressed the button for the 3rd floor. The door closed as Fuyumi had gotten to them. You had briefly seen Natsuo as well.
Once on the 3rd floor, you scanned the halls for room 313. Upon finding the door, you, of course, knocked before entering.
"Mom?" You spoke eagerly as your gaze met her gray eyes. You rushed over to hug her. "It's been so long!"
"It has been," Her words were soft. She hugged you back for a few good seconds before letting you go. You backed up and sat on the hospital bed. Looking around, you spotted a vase with 2 blue roses in it. You couldn't help but think of your father when you saw them.
"How've you been after all these years? Doing better I hope?" You asked.
She smiled, "I've been getting better, yes." She turned to the desk the vase sat on, and just before she grabbed something from a drawer, Fuyumi and Natsuo entered the room. She turned to the two of them before asking, "Is Shoto with you?"
"Ah, no. Sorry, mom," Fuyumi glared at you while she spoke. "It's good to finally see you again!"
Natsuo had pushed past Fuyumi to hug Rei.
"Natsuo finally had the time to visit I see," Your mother chuckled.
"Yeah uh, it was about time!" He awkwardly said as he let go of her and sat on the bed as well.
"In the car, he said he met a girl at a seminar," Fuyumi chimed in. You watched your twin brother's face go bright red.
"Hey hey! I at least stay in contact, right?" He panicked. You were about to expose his lies when he quickly changed the subject. "Your complexion, it's fantastic! Has something good happened recently?"
Rei smiled and grabbed some letters from the drawer. "Shoto has been writing to me."
"He corresponds frequently," Natsuo observed.
"A whole lot more frequently than you it seems," You muttered.
Then, after a while of Rei reading off the letters Shoto had sent her, Natsuo brought dad up. "He's the number one hero now."
