Four - Birthday Boy

Zak often remembers his 19th birthday celebration; it was small, a couple of his friends surprised him.

He remembers the pure shock, happiness, appreciation.

It was a day so special to him, a day he would describe being full of amazing memories; he can't remember a single bad thing that happened to him that day.

(Beginning of flashback)

Zak woke up in his bedroom, sighing when he realized it was still dark.

He turned over, trying his best to fall back asleep and stay asleep until the sun came up.

Zak tried to go to sleep for what felt like an hour, but it was probably only like ten minutes.

He gave up, turning to lay on his back.

Zak didn't get onto his phone just yet, partially because he didn't want to blind himself, but mostly he just wanted to sit and enjoy the darkness and silence.

Zak listened for any cars, but ultimately it was silent. All that was heard was the wind flowing through the trees and the heater, Zak turned on last night, humming.

Zak guessed it was sometime between four and five. It was too dark for it to be nearing morning, too silent for it to be super late or super early, and Rocco had yet to awake from his slumber to alert Zak that he needed to go outside.

Zak reached to his nightstand, unplugging it off the charger, and squinted his eyes at the bright and blinding life.

Eventually, Zak's eyes adjusted to the intrusively bright life, squinting to see the time was 4:45 a.m.

Zak groaned, frustrated that he couldn't sleep, but he was too excited about today to care too much about not being able to sleep.

Zak's going to see Darryl today, oh and it was also his birthday. A part of him thinks that he should be more excited about it being his birthday, but he couldn't help but be more excited about seeing Darryl.

He went off into a daydream, thinking about Darryl's pretty emerald eyes, his messy locks, his cute button nose, that smile of his...

Shaking his head, with a huge smile on his face, he focused back on his phone.

He opened his Discord app, seeing as he had a notification, he was so thankful that he had his Discord set to night mode.

Zak smiled, giggling slightly. It's one of Zak's favorite things: clinging to Darryl, his arms around his neck, and his legs tightly locked around his waist.
