Five - Valentines Day

Zak remembers his first-ever real Valentine. He had other "Valentines" in the past, but it wasn't serious, they were just stupid high school and middle school relationships.

Zak had a "girlfriend" in 7th grade, she was a tad bit shorter than him, had brown locks, an energetic personality, a few stand out features like freckles that danced across her nose, a mole right underneath her eye, round glasses, earrings that had crystals dangling from them, etc.

She was really cool, they ended up becoming good friends- after deciding that they didn't really work together in a relationship- but she ended up moving at the end of 8th grade.

He bought her a stuffed giraffe, that was about a foot tall, and some chocolates.

Zak had another one-week relationship in 9th grade, with a girl with golden hair. Like the other girl, he remained friends with her, but they never really worked out.

He got her a necklace with a koala bear on it, she ended up wearing it all the time, even after they had broken up.

Zak's longest school relationship was about a year; they were both in 10th grade and had nearly every class together.

She was about Zak's height, maybe an inch taller, had brown hair that she dyed a deep red, big hazel eyes, a button nose, rosy cheeks, a bright smile.

They spent all their time together, they went to parties together, they were practically inseparable.

When they were both in 11th grade though, Zak found out she cheated on him with a kid from their math class.

Zak ended up having to change half of his schedule, not wanting to even be near her.

She and that kid ended up getting together, and as far as Zak knows, they're still together.

After her, Zak wasn't really himself for a while. His whole concept of love was crumbled before him because a stupid girl broke his heart.

All of that changed though when he met Darryl, he never took Valentine's day seriously until him. Of course, Zak didn't see Valentine's day as the only time to give his significant others affection, he saw it more as a day to get the people he cares about gifts of chocolates, stuffed animals, necklaces, etc.

However, the first Valentine's day he shared with Darryl, he didn't know what to get him. What physical gift do you give to someone you care so much about?

Darryl has always been the best at gift; heck he got Zak a gift for his birthday that he keeps with him every day.

With that, Zak smiled, fiddling with the garnet stone that hung around his neck.

(Beginning of flashback)

Zak groaned, opened his eyes, and looked around the room.

Zak guessed it was around noon, or at the very least; late morning. The reasoning for his assumption was the way the bright light shone through his slightly open blinds.

Zak reached his arms up, stretching out his shoulders, neck, and back. He smiled at the slight popping of his tense muscles, though he knew the reason of his tenseness was because of his bad sleeping positions.

Rubbing his hand over his eyes, he picked up his phone.

12:30 p.m.

Zak smiled, looking at his notifications and seeing a Discord message from Darryl.
