Part I - Chapter 4: Christmastime

Dear Journal,
We all returned home from our mission in Tokyo. The Prime Minister was so happy that WANG is finally inactive and gave us praise by taking our picture and has it framed in a huge billboard that would never be removed. Ain't that sweet? Hina really hopes we come visit her sometime. Once we arrived home, my sword wound were stitched up and I had to wear a cast for a week. But thankfully, it was removed just in time for the holidays. Thanksgiving was great and Grandma Rose came over. She was judgmental that me and Chase were in love but she got over it. Now it's Christmastime, were everything will be jolly.

Sierra and I walk inside the local mall and enter a store where we will try to find good present for Sierra to give to James. James asked Sierra out and obviously, she knew that he would. They are now dating and Sierra is so anxious in getting him a present.

" What does James even like? Did he throw out any hints? " I ask, looking around at the displays. This store is filled with mostly boys and a few older women. Figures cause this is a guy store where it sells t-shirts, pants, shoes, bags, et cetera. " Since you have your visions, maybe you see him opening up a present you gave him and he loved it. "

" My power doesn't work like that, Bree. These visions only arrive when it's something I really need to know. " She tells me, going through Christmas sweaters. I go on my phone and see a picture on Instagram of Daniel with his wife Ava. I talked to her on the phone a couple times, Facetimed her, and texted her. Once the victory tour time arrives, I will be able to meet her in person for the first time. Daniel and Ava also have a 2 year old son named Julian. Such a charmer.

I then shift off to the thought of me and Chase happily married with children, living in a world without any Games. Just peace and comfort. Donald and Tasha are retired from work and living on billions of dollars, Leo is married to Janelle with a huge tech business, and Adam is a famous model with many girls chasing for him. Life would be so much simpler.

" Earth to Bree! " Sierra waves her hands in my face and I snap out of my thoughts. She shows me a ugly sweater of a reindeer, snowmen scattered around, lights and snowflakes. " This is similar to the one I have. I'm getting James this, okay? "

" Perfect. Matching sweaters totally suites you both. " I answer, putting away my phone and we walk over to the cash register. The lady behind the counter was kind enough to wrap the box with the sweater with Christmas wrapping paper and a red ribbon. Sierra takes a nearby black sharpie and writes To: James From: Sierra on the side.

Walking outside the store, we unexpectedly bump into no one other than Principal Perry. She looks at us with disgust and tries to pass off a smile. When she tries to say something, we scurry off all the way to the small cafe on the second floor of the mall.

We buy lattes and doughnuts and we sit down in he table by the window. Sierra starts drinking her cream latte and I munch at one of my doughnuts. " Bree, do you think you'll arrive back at school after Winter break? "

" I caught up on all the work I've missed and there is a chance I might be able to finish up my Senior Year. Prom and Graduation are the events I must attend. " I say, reaching for my smoothie. I will be able to go through school since the Victory Tour is around the time of Spring Break. Chase probably doesn't have to go back to school cause he is the smartest person alive and will easily get a decent career in anything. Just to be clear, the Games will not be our only priority in our lives.

" It'll be cool to graduate together. So many universities in District 6 and I want to succeed in music, not only to be remembered as precognition girl. " Sierra says. Before we leave, I pull out my phone and we take a selfie. Moments like these matter.

" Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas! " Adam yells, dressed in a Santa costume and marching around the house. Donald laughs and takes a picture. Adam has a fake beard, a huge red coat with a black belt, a Santa hat and black boots. He is holding up a cup full of eggnog and begins singing " Deck the Halls. "

" Adam, come help us with the decorations. " Tasha said, annoyed. Adam shrugs and picks up some Christmas lights to hang on the walls. The lights are like the colors of the rainbow going from red to green to blue to purple. Chase and I are decorating the Christmas tree with Leo. We put up the Christmas ornaments, the tinsel and holly. Chase picked me up and placed me on his shoulders, giving me a chance to put up the golden bright star on the top of the pine tree. It looks really perfect.

" Are you two thinking about having kids? I'd love to be a big Uncle with a sweet bionic arm. " Leo laughs. Chase takes me off his shoulders and I start feeling awkward about that topic.

" No comment. Leo, how about you finish up the tree and me and Chase will go get more decorations in the lab! " I say. He nods his head fast and we leave.

As we enter the lab, I spot the extra Christmas decorations box. We couldn't decorate the lab cause it will shine over Mr. Davenport's work. His words, not mine at all. Chase hugs me from behind when I get a hold of the box and I'm loving this. " Whatcha doing, Chase? "

" We need time alone, don't we? " He moves my hair and starts kissing my neck slowly and gently. " One night, we'll get ourselves a romantic suite, order room service, and then share pleasure. " He sways me and his lips find its way to my right cheek. His hands land down to my hips and I let out a moan.

" Aren't you two disgusting! " Eddy yells. Chase lets go of me quickly and we both glare at him. " This is a lab, not a bedroom. Now, get that box and proceed upstairs before I tell Donny about you teens attempting to make robot babies in here. " Sometimes, Eddy is just so bossy and I wish to just punch him in the face.

It's the night before Christmas and we all came together for a marvelous feast. What's included is chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, soft drinks, bowl of salad, Apple and Sweet Potato pie and Christmas cookies. After eating our food and feeling so stuffed, we gathered around the living room. Mr. Davenport got us to huddle together for a family photo using an automatic camera. The picture turned out adorable.

" Now, I will read you all the Night Before Christmas. " Mr. Davenport pulls up the story on his iPad and we all cover ourselves in blankets. Chase and I share a blanket on the sofa, Leo and Adam are laying on the carpet, and Tasha is sitting on Mr. Davenport's lap next to us. It's great to spend Christmas without any distractions. No Games, no Capital, just us. This moment, being together as a family, is the best Christmas gift I can ever have.
