Chapter 1 - They're Coming Katniss

(Katniss' POV)

When Gale tells me that I'm needed in Command, I get very nervous. I walk into the room and see Plutarch, Coin, surprisingly Effie, and Haymitch. A look of confusion registers across Haymitch's face. "If the Capitol knows where Katniss is, why haven't they just invaded us and captured her?" Haymitch asks Coin demandingly. "My theories tell me that they're using him to break her. They can't kill him because that would be to easy for his torture to end." At her comment I snap. I run to her and rake my nails into her face, and the last thing I see is the blood dripping down her face and a needle being stuck into my arm.

I wake up in a haze, and realize I'm back in Command. I have restraints on my arms and feet, and I see that the hospital-issued wrist band reads "mentally unstable". I don't feel offended, and I pity Coin for what I did to her. Her eyes meet mine and she walks over to me. "Katniss, we are keeping you in the hospital until you show much better signs of sanity." she says politely. "I'm sorry that my nails are so long.", is the only thing I can say to her. I look onto the screen to see that the Capitol banner has showed up. It then transitions into Caesar Flickerman's face, asking someone about the attacks on the Districts. The camera changes over to a boy that I don't recognize. His face and figure look overly-fatigued, and his eyes are bloodshot and tears are streaming down his face. I register his face as Peeta's. "What have they done to you?" I whisper to myself in horror. I notice the screen going static and then - BAM - I see myself walking towards the demised District 12 Justice Building. I hear myself singing The Hanging Tree. "Are you, are you coming to the tree. They strung up a man, they say who murdered three." The propo is cut off and Peeta asks, "Katniss are you there?" "He sees it, Beetee made him see our propo." Coin states. The screen cuts back to me singing the song. "The dead man called out, for his love to flee." The screen cuts back to Peeta. "They're coming Katniss. They're coming to District 13 and you'll be dead by morning!" he shouts to the screen just as I see the Peacekeepers behind him throw him to the ground. Yet, the Capitol emblem is still shining.
