Chapter V: A Hero

A well-deserved sleep for them was all they needed after succeeding in the quest. The next morning, Alicia and Chris woke up from their sleep as the other adventurers stayed in the Inn woke them up.They looked around the dimly lit room and got off the bed happily. Alicia told Chris to get ready as she left the room, closed the door then went downstairs. 

Chris got ready in around a few minutes and walked out. While Chris is walking towards the stairs, he notices two adventurers kissing in the hallway. He deliberately avoided looking at them and walked it off. He saw Alicia talking with Nakahara joyfully, but other adventurers were not looking happy as they were looking closely at a contract on their hands. 

“Hey Chris, I was just thanking Alicia here for saving my friends. You two must be some hero that appeared at the correct moment to help them!” Nakahara said happily. 

“Well, it’s not all about us only. Your friends played a part in the rescue quest yesterday,  we are just two fresh adventurers who just arrived on time to help.” Chris replied calmly.

“There’s no need to be humble about it, I will hold a celebration party here tonight. We will meet here again at night after you two finish the quests.” Nakahara said. 

Nakahara sat down and took out a contract from the hidden compartment underneath the counter. She showed them a contract regarding the increasing numbers of monsters appearing at Adventurer Plains. Nakahara asked Alicia to sign a contract with her, while Chris was told to take a view of the surrounding via the watchtower.

"You up for the contract, slaying monsters at Adventurer plains? " Nakahara questions Alicia. 

"Where do I sign? " Alicia asked with courage. 

"Right here." She points at the right corner of the contract. 

"Now come with me, Chris is waiting for us at the watchtower ."

[Contract signed]

(Minutes later, the Inn watchtower)

"Enjoying the view,Chris? "

"It's a view to kill for, I guess. "

"Good, now look at where I am pointing. "

Nakahara pointed her finger at the barren land at west side. 

"That's the Land of Ruins, it was the first city that was close to us but it burned down when a bright light was seen appearing from the sky."

"What happened after the bright light?"

"A loud sound was heard after that."

"So we have to get through that place and do what ?"

Nakahara briefly explains that there's a bridge that was finished building as of three months ago. 

"A road to where?"

"To the Adventurer Plains of course. Alicia, you better pack up your weapons before going there by yourself."

"By myself ? Isn't Chris going with me?"

"I will be sending him to the Forest."

Chris nodded after hearing that he's going to the Forest by himself.

"What about the arrows I will be taking? I used some of them yesterday."

"The blacksmith can reload your arrows for free. Unless you wished for those magical arrows, that you have to pay coins since it's hard to make."

"I see...... Good luck then Chris. Don't get yourself killed."

"Well, I hope you don't get killed by a wolf."
