Chapter 1 : Strange 

It never really occurred to me that at any minute I could or would drown in the shores of the beach. It was a clear bright sunny day and the beach was swarmed with people and I was floating in the clear deep blue sea. I felt something tugging my right foot and suddenly I was struggling for oxygen. It pulled me deeper and deeper until everything went fuzzy , and the last thing I saw was a silhouette of a person. A boy. Then everything went white.

My eyes opened a little and I saw people in masks, I saw my mum crying and opening and closing her mouth, I saw my dad looking at me with glazed eyes . Everything in my head was muddled and what I saw was a blur. I felt like I was moving, why was I moving? I wondered why I couldn't hear properly , like there was water in my ears, why everything felt so slow and why i could only hear my heart beat. Then I came to a gentle halt . The lights above me brightened up and it pierced my eyes ,so I snapped it shut. I opened my eyes a little bit to see what was going on , then a lady with glasses put on this mask  covering my nose and mouth. I felt dazed and before I knew it, I was asleep.

I couldn't remember if this was a dream or reality, but I was in a place. A magical wonderland , I guess you could call it that. Each corner I looked blasted with flowers in different shades of colours. The sky was so clear and the brilliant shade of blue made me want to soar in the sky, and as if in an instant, I was floating in the air! It was exciting ! I looked down and noticed that the newly sprouted flowers spelt " Hello Emily !". I smiled in glee and soared around the sky , letting the cool breeze sweep my blonde hair. I soon found a place to settle and I closed my eyes and imagined a hammock . When I opened my eyes , golden sparks whizzed here and there to form a beautiful green hammock laced in ivy. I was about to lazily nap on it but I saw a radiant figure from a distance. The glowing figure was walking towards me , it looked like a teenage girl. She had glowing golden locks of hair and her eyes were blue like the sky and she was gracefully walking towards me until we were separated by only the hammock which suddenly glowed and disappeared out of sight. I stared at this girl , amazed at no only what she just did , but also at her beauty. She was drop dead gorgeous ! This girl then began to speak ; " Hello Emily , welcome to 'Here'." Here? i thought. "You have been brought to ' here' because you are one of the chosen ones." "huh?" I said as I tilted my head to the side with a questioning look on my face. " Yes, you are one of the chosen ones. You have been brought here by the great spirits to seek ." "To seek?" I asked. " You have been given the ability to seek answers , lost souls and dark creatures. A seeker's duty is to seek the answers to many questions wandering in the world, for some questions are better left unanswered. A seeker must also seek lost souls and bring them safely across the bridge . Last, a seeker's duty is to slay dark creatures that linger in the souls of many human beings and those who harm lost souls during the dark hour" , she replied. I was speechless , I had no idea what to say . "um... will this by any chance .. kill me?" I asked. " If you follow your rules and team members, you will avoid danger." "and can I.." Then it hit me ".. I have team members ?" "Yes" she said, "you will meet up with them when you return to school. Fate will pick your team members ." " Wait.. so then -" but before I could finish she cut me off " I will explain to you once you are with your team mates. And one last thing, put your hands out." I did as I was told and a the a glowing golden light brought a black scythe entwined in golden ivy with a silver chine in my hands. I stared at it in awe . " use it when slaying dark creatures. It will not harm the physical state of a human, however , it may harm their soul." She said before she flew into the sky like a glowing radiant light.

"So what do I do know ? " I murmured to myself. The scythe turned into a glowing liquid which laced itself on my right wrist into a tattoo in the shape of entwined ivy. I looked into the sky one last time before everything turned white and I was staring at the incandescent lights above me . I looked at my surroundings, IV drip ,large windows covered in curtains , TV  I must be in a hospital, I thought, it even smells like disinfectant . Then I remembered the dream (or was it?)  and I pulled my hands from under the white covers. I looked at my wrist.

It was covered in white bandages , I really felt like ripping it out. Then the door opened, it was my mum; "oh honey ! I'm glad you're all right ! Sorry I wasn't here ! They didn't let me come in !" then she burst into tears and ran over to hug me. I smiled " I feel all right mum , what happened?". " Sweetie , you drowned in the beach , luckily this one boy saved you and brought you to shore ! sea water filled up your lungs and you're foot was bleeding like crazy !". I looked down to see that my foot was under the covers, and I tried moving them but I couldn't , " did they amputate it?" I said on the verge of tears. " No honey, they just numbed it because it would hurt a lot if they didn't". Amen , I thought and I sucked back the tears. Just then, I heard the door creek and a boy about a couple years older than me walked in. His hair was raven black and his eyes were the colour of the deep ocean. He walked in with a bouquet of flowers and he plastered a half smile on his face. "here's the boy who saved you  honey!" mum said cheerfully . " we are greatly in debt to you Damon" mum said. "yea um... thanks for saving my life" I said with sincerity . He smiled and said "welcome ". I heard ringing and mum took out her phone from inside her bag and picked it up ".. oh ! Henry couldn't get the painting for the gala dinner tonight ! But we need .... ok ..ok ... I'll be right there." mum hung up the phone , kissed me on the fore head and power walked towards the door saying " you'll be out of the hospital tomorrow! get some rest sweetie ! I have to take care of this in a moment! bye " , then she rushed out f the room.

Then the awkward silence between me and the boy who saved my life. "umm... hi? thanks again for saving my life" I smiled. "your welcome , again" he smiled and said. " are those flowers for me? " I asked , "yup" he answered, " where should I put them?" "here " I pointed out to the table next to me". He walked towards me and placed the flowers next to me. He smelt so soothing and fresh ( yes, I smell people because what they smell like can affect their personality.) Then I noticed it, a dragon shaped tattoo ran up his wrist, and he started to glow a bit. I rubbed my eyes wondering if I imagined things, but I wasn't. 

He pulled up a chair and sat with the back of the chair in front. " I'm guessing you already know what you are." He raised his right wrist to reveal the (now) glowing dragon tattoo on his wrist. "and you still have no idea what pulled you in the sea." I nodded. "First off, to make sure , I'm sure Aurora visited you during your sleep" I nodded again. " She told you that you were a seeker am I right?" I nodded. Well , the 'thing' that tried to kill you was a dark creature. Spiritual sea serpents . They inhabit the bermuda triangle , the real reason why ships and planes sink there. They are invisible to human beings , but not to seekers. " I stared blankly at him. Oh, and by the way , seekers can communicate telepathically . His voice in my head without him opening his mouth practically made me jump on my bed. "So yea, introductions over, my dragon here brought me to you, so now we're team mates. So you're leaving tomorrow right ? meet me and the rest of the team in the skate park tomorrow at 7p.m , you have some training to do little girl." I just nodded with a blank expression on my face. He stood up and left , leaving me shocked .
