The Seekers [PAUSED]

Chapter 4 : Kaleidoscope

It was early in the morning, about 8 a.m to be precise, when I heard something come crashing on the ground. It sounded like glass shattering , and it was coming from the kitchen. I was half asleep when I walked down to check things out . Walking down the staircase , I saw a hint of purple mist moving swiftly across the living room. I quickly hid behind the staircase wall and I was breathing a bit hard now. However, I managed to convince myself that I was just seeing things and that I was still sleepy . I peered at the living room to see the mist was gone , and I breathed a sigh of relief . I climbed up the stairs and went back to sleep again.

Beep beep beep. I heard my alarm clock and I put by pillow tightly against my ears , hoping to drown the noise away. FAIL . I banged my hand against the bedside table , hoping to find the alarm and snooze it. Then I remembered that dad got me this alarm clock which would move around randomly and hide itself somewhere in my room. 

"uggghhh .... stupid alarm clock" I groaned.

I sat up and began to search for the alarm clock. I found it hiding under a  pile of dirty clothes in my closet and proceeded to turn it off, then I realized it was 9:55 a.m. 

"Em, you're forgetting something .. " I said to myself. I looked at the ceiling, hoping to find what I forgot . Nothing. And then like an avalanche ;

"OH MY HEAVEN !!! I FORGOT ABOUT THE SKATE PARK!" I yelled at myself ( deranged am I ?).

I grabbed my back pack , took a quick shower and changed into the only clean piece of clothing I could find, a long white tank top ,khaki shorts & light black stockings ( I don't like my leg's all bare) . I grabbed my floral back pack with everything I need inside and ran downstairs . Mom was already prepared on her way to work .

"Where you going sweetie?" she asked me. I took out milk from the fridge.

"um.. meeting up with friends. " I replied while pouring milk into a glass. 

"which friends?" she asked me. I'm really not in the mood to answer questions just then.

"You know , Ashley and Kayla . " I lied . I actually lied. why did I lie ? I chugged down the milk .

She checked her watch , " ooh ! 9:58 already ? got to go sweetie ! By the way, reach home before 9 p.m do you understand?"

"yes mum." I replied while putting the glass in the sink.

"okay, see you, bye" then she left.

I put on a pair of ballet flats and I ran to the garage to get my bicycle , until I realized that wasn't the best choice , going to the skate park and all. So I grabbed my skate board and checked all the locks before putting the house key around my neck like a necklace. I locked the main door and boarded all the way to the skate park. It's been awhile since I did .

When I arrived, the place was crowded with people, mostly skater boys. I picked up my board and went looking around for Damon. Suddenly I bumped into someone, a blonde boy about a head taller than me. He turned aro.und and smiled.

"sorry .." I said.

"apology accepted " he said cheerfully .

His deep blue eyes looked at me from top to bottom , which really creeped me out. Suddenly, his eyes stopped to look at my wrist . So I looked at his, and nothing was there.

"Hm.. cool tattoo you got there on your wrist."

"um.. thanks." 

"Where'd you get it. Aren't you supposed to be 18 to get one?"

Uh oh , how am I supposed to reply to this ?? I panicked .

Then he lowered his head to my ear and whispered 

"You're a seeker aren't you."

I could feel his warm breath tingling my neck and I flushed red. I didn't know what to say ! Was he a seeker too ? 

"er.." Then as if it were a miracle , someone pulled me towards them . I looked up to see it was Damon. Thank you !

"Oh , if it isn't little Damon " the blonde boy said.

"Shut up Andre, " Damon said angrily. " and leave her alone."

"So you've got another silly recruit have you ?" Andre mocked.

Damon's faced filled with anger . 

"Let's go Emily." Damon said pulling me away from the blonde boy who i presume was named Andre.

"Oh, so the cute little lady's name is Emily. It was a pleasure to meet you , hope to see you soon " Andre said in a twisted sweet way that made me want to go puke. 

When we finally lost sight of him , I realized that Damon and I were holding hands. Suddenly I couldn't stop myself from turning into different shades of red. Damon looked at me and then he looked at our hands , he looked at me again , then he snapped into reality and let go of my hand.

"sorry.." he mumbled. He looked away , but I saw a hint of pink on his cheeks.

Awkward silence.

"so.. umm." I tried to break the awkward silence .

"Oh .. right , sorry. " he said , " Ok , come here." Then, he led me to an empty alley. 

"Close your eyes and imagine a door . A great big wooden oak door." he said and I did what I was told.

"Now imagine it opening slowly and let a bright golden light seep through the cracks. Now imagine floating towards the door ... and now open your eyes."

I opened my eyes and everything around me was like , a kaleidoscope .

"Woah .. " I said in awe " Is this supposed to happen ? " 

"yea , it's the portal between the seeker's world and earth. Oh, and you don't have to do it in an alley , just a place where it's empty because our existence must not be known by non-seekers."

"all right .." .

Damon began to walk towards something .

"And um Damon ? Who was that Andre person?" I asked him.

"He's part of the Fire Seekers ."

"but he didn't have a mark on his wrist .."

"The place where people's marks are decide their group. However, when you are accepted to another group , your mark changes position to where the group members marks are."

"oh .. so we can move into different groups?"

"Yea , only if you are accepted."

"Sorry to ask but .. why were you angry at Andre just now?"

"... He was a shadow seeker."

"oh..." 

Then we stopped in front of a large door. 

"Ex Tenebris Lux" Damon said aloud , and the door began to open. A glowing golden light began to fill the room. I squinted my eyes from the bright light and when my eyes finally began to adjust . I saw it.

The Seeker World.
