Not one minute had passed into the night and both girls were still awake. Street lights off in the distance were visible from Ava's window, and were now the only things illuminating the dark bedroom. The storm was still thrashing outside, covering up any hope of moonlight from leaking through a cloud.

"Well, at least we only lost power," Ava whimpered as she noticed the dead alarm clock on the other side of the room. Sara saw it too and nodded. "I know we've faced it many times before, you more than most, but total darkness is scary, right?" She hid a hint of worry behind her voice, which worried the captain.

"Yeah," Sara whispered. "But nothing is going to happen." She wrapped an arm over Ava and tucked her knees into her girlfriend's form.

"Are you the big spoon right now?!"

"Shhh, babe. I have no idea what you're talking about." Sara smirked. Ava rolled her eyes, but both girls knew she enjoyed the feeling of the Canary wrapped around her.

Moments later, a large clap of thunder hit as the streetlights flickered out. Ava's senses immediately heightened and Sara could feel the director tense up. She knew that something was wrong.

"Shit."

"Hey, Aves, it's ok! I'm right here!" She placed a kiss into Ava's back and pressed soothing circles onto the side of her arm. "What's wrong?"

"I know..." She audibly gulped. "It's just I hate darkness like you hate swimming... it's a feeling you can't shake," Ava breathed. Sara could feel the taller blonde's shaky voice resonating through her body.

"I didn't know that." She paused, wondering why Ava would be keeping anything from her. "Is it something we can talk about or is it just one of those moments when you simply feel like throwing up?"

"Oh, we can talk about it, but i'd rather not right now. Since it's- you know... dark." She light-heartedly laughed.

"Right. Sorry." Sara placed another kiss into Ava's back, right above where her tank top met her skin.

Ava shivered from the touch, which made Sara giggle. "Sorry, babe." She smiled. Unexpectedly, Ava turned around and pressed a deep kiss onto her lips.

"What was that for? I mean it was nice, but..." Even in the darkness, Sara knew she was looking directly into Ava's eyes.

"Just for you being you." Ava gently found Sara's head and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"I love you."

"Hmm." Ava smiled and continued to kiss Sara, who happened to have an idea. The shorter blonde slowly crawled on top of the other woman, pressing more and more into each kiss. Her hands found the director's jawline as she swung her leg over her hips.

Ava couldn't see a fucking thing, but all of her other senses screamed of pleasure. Sara's kisses were sending bolt after bolt of tension into the taller blonde's gut, and the world had finally stopped spinning around her. Reluctantly, though, she peeled her lips off of Sara's. "You... um... you wanna do this right now?" She questioned, noticing that no shred of light would meet her eyes any time soon.

"Ava, my love. Yes, right now. You need to relax and," she paused. "This has never not worked." Both girls knew they were blushing. "Plus," Sara leaned down to whisper into Ava's ear, allowing her tongue to graze the skin.

"Sex in the dark is hella good."
