'Shit.'
Hinata was running for his life. He took a quick peek over his shoulder to see how far away his assailants were behind him. They were close. Too close. Hinata turned his head back and willed his legs to move faster.
'Shit, shit, shit.'
________________________________________________________________________Hinata sighed as he quickly opened his locker. His teacher had to talk to him after class today, which turned into 30 minutes of getting lectured because he fell asleep in the middle of learning how to ask for directions in English, which meant he was late for practice, which also meant that he probably worried his boyfriend. Yes, Kageyama's can be a jerk, but he's a big softie underneath that scary glare and secretly cares for everyone.
He groaned at the thought of the flying receives he'd have to do in punishment for being late. Sure, Daichi might be an awesome senpai, but when it came to being late... Hinata shivered.
He quickly grabbed his volleyball bag and shut his locker, making sure to check if it was completely closed before rushing out of the nearest exit and began jogging to gym, which was oh so conveniently on the other side of the school campus. His brisk jog had slowed to a cautious walk when he heard voices and whimpers as he rounded the corner of the third school building.
As Hinata hid behind the wall, he noticed the three big third-years cornering a short girl. The third-years were at least a good few centimeters taller than Tsukishima. He recognized the third-years as members of the basketball club and the petite girl as a second-year who he had passed today in the hallway on his way to class. She was jumping and reaching, trying to get something out of one of the third-years hands that he was holding above his head. Upon closer inspection, Hinata realized the item was a light pink book covered with cute stickers and was attached to a fluffy pen.
"P-Please give it back, Ichiro-san. It has important notes in it." The stuttering girl stated.
"Pfft, sure shorty. Is this your diary or something?"
The rather rude third-year replied as his friends laughed, pushing the girl away slightly."N-No! Can I p-please have it back now?" The second-year girl was now blushing, a light pink spreading through her pale cheeks.
One of the other third-years spoke up. "So it is your diary. What kind of secrets would we find if we read through it?" He smirked as the third-year named Ichiro opened the front cover whilst his friends continue to laugh at the girl's embarrassment.
'What should I do???' Hinata thought, panicking before reaching a decision.
As Ichiro was about to flip to the first page, he heard fast footsteps behind him before the pastel book was torn out of his greasy and calloused hands. He and his friends looked at the small, orange-haired boy that had somehow flown past his height with utter shock.
Hinata turned to the also shocked girl, gently pushing the book into her hands with a friendly smile.
"Go, I can handle them." He spoke kindly. The second-year gave him a soft "thank you" and ran away quickly, making Hinata feel braver and his smile grow wider at the fact that he helped somebody who needed it.
But when he turned around, all his feelings of bravery were gone in less than a second. He could not handle them.
These third-years were huge compared to Hinata's weak frame and small stature. They were obviously on the buffer side of the spectrum, there bicep muscles very visible through their school uniforms and their large height making them look extremely intimidating. He gulped in fear as the shock wiped off their faces, quickly melting into one of anger and smugness.
