After going around the hospital to show to the interns i look at my watch. Its almost 11:00 so i announce to them
Okay everybody its time for the m&m. Its a conference we do for every interns day. Lets go.
We arrived in a big room with a lot of seats and a stage with 8 chairs. Each for every old attendings. My interns sit down and i go join my people.

Hello interns! Today your old attendings are gonna say a very important speech to you.

I'm dr. Torres head of ortho

First of all congratulations for enter the program. Each of you comes today hopeful, wanting in on the game. A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are the doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play, that's up to you. Being a surgeon is not easy as you think. Like we said your are gonna be pushed to the breaking point. Some day your are gonna kill somebody. And probably more than one. Not on purpose of course. Maybe its gonna be a mistake in the medication. Or you are gonna read the charts badly. Or even in surgery your are gonna do a mistake thats gonna cost the life of a patient. So if what we said scared the hell out of you.. you are not born to be a surgeon. Go find a another job cause we want to keep the good ones. Now the speech is finished so your are gonna go join your attending and go through the day. Its a beautiful day to save life lets have some fun!
