Chapter 5

*Gray Thomas's POV*

I stood on my balcony, overlooking the beach. Everyone was down there for my party, but I was still in my house with my little brother.

"Go," he laughed limping up next to me and placing his arm around me making me jumped softy, smiling as I looked down at him. "Why are you still up here?" He smiled as I wrapped my arms around him and hugging him tightly.

"Because I love you," I mumbled, closing my eyes as I placed my head against his chest.

"Gray, I'm not going to die while you're down there," Ryan laughed, putting his hands on my shoulders and looking down into my eyes. "How about I come down with you for a little bit," he smiled as I shook my head.

"Ryan-"

"I wasn't asking you, I was telling you," he laughed, limping towards the stairs, looking back at me with a smug smile on his face. "You coming?" He smirked as I laughed, nodding my head as I ran over to him, wrapping my arm around his waist as the two of us walked down to the beach together.

When we got down there, I realized how packed the party was, looking up at Ryan who was just smiling back at me in a reassuring way. I walked him around, smiling at everyone before I saw Jake and Logan. Jake and I made eye contact, a big smile on his face as I walked Ryan over to him.

"What, you didn't want to dress up for your party? What kind of host are you?" Jake laughed, Logan's face dropping as he looked at Ryan and me.

"It's my fault," Ryan laughed, looking down at me. "I guess I rushed her," he smirked up at Jake who was laughing softly.

"How are you feeling?" Jake gulped, concern in his eyes as he watched me practically carry my brother.

"I mean, you got good days and bad days," Ryan cleared his throat, trying to let go of me but I refused to let him go, holding him tighter. Logan looked at me with sad eyes before Jake cleared his throat, smiling brightly.

"So, what did the birthday girl do for her birthday?" Jake smirked as I laughed softly, clearing my throat.

"I let Ryan drive me around LA," I smiled as Jake gasped, sticking his hand up, Ryan laughing as he dapped Jake up.

"What car did she let you drive? The Ferrari? The Lambo? The Tesla? The Rover?" Jake smirked as Ryan shook his head.

"I wanted to take the Jeep," Ryan smiled as Jake smiled brightly, nodding his head.

"Did she at least let you go topless?" Jake winked making Ryan laugh loudly.

"Luckily," Ryan smiled down at me before looking back up at Logan and Jake. "I don't think we've met, I'm Ryan," Ryan smiled at Logan, sticking his hand out.

"Logan," the tall blonde haired kid smiled softly, shaking my brother's hand. "I've heard a lot about you," Logan laughed softly as Ryan smiled, nodding his head.

"Yeah, I figured. I saw you giving my sister the 'I'm sorry your brother's sick' eyes," Ryan smirked as Jake laughed loudly making me giggle as Logan just stood there speechless.

"I-I'm sorry-" Logan stuttered as Ryan laughed, shaking his head.

"I'm messing with you," Ryan smiled. "I even give her that look sometimes," Ryan grinned as all of us laughed, Logan still speechless. Ryan gripped onto me tightly, closing his eyes as he hung his head.

"Ryan," I jumped, kneeling him onto the ground.

"I'm fine," he mumbled sitting down as he covered his face with his hands, breathing heavily as he sat in the sand. I looked up at Jake and Logan as if they'd know what to do. Jake jumped, kneeling down and putting a hand on Ryan's shoulder.

"You wanna go back up?" Jake said softly as Ryan shook his head, taking his hands off his face as he looked at me, tears in his eyes.

"No, I'm fine," he mumbled, looking over at Jake who then just looked at me.

"Ryan, you need to lay down," I said softly, sitting down next to him and grabbing his hand in mine as he looked back at me.

"Gray-"

"No, it's not up for discussion," I said sternly as I stood up. "Can you, um, can you help me?" I looked at Jake as he nodded, helping me lift Ryan up off the ground. Jake and I each wrapped our arms around him, the two of us helping Ryan back up to the house.
