Crack
The walls were burning and collapsing.
"Run, Mary! Run!" A father yelled. He grabs a small baby and puts them in the mother's ,Mary's, arms. Mary runs as fast as she can towards the door. The ceiling in front of her collapses blocking the door. A firefighter opens the door and sees the woman. There is a small gap in the wall just bigger than trashcan lid.
"Please take her," The mother sobs.
"Okay, ma'am. I'll take care of her. What's her name?" the firefighter asked while trying to get the baby safely.
"Ebony,"

"Ebony?" Aqua asked leaning over the side of the top bunk of their and Ebony's shared bunk beds.
"Yea?" Ebony responded sticking her head out from her bed, laying on her back.
"Do you think I'm going to get adopted, ever?" they asked watching their hands.
"Why would you say that?" Ebony asked getting up and climbing the ladder to Aqua's bunk.
"It's my hair... no sane person would adopt a "colored hair" kid" They said tears building in their eyes. Ebony grabbed Aqua's hands and looked them in the eyes.
"Society doesn't define you. You are worth more than society tells you. You have worth, inherently." and with that Aqua broke down. Ebony pulled Aqua into a hug and let them cry into her chest.
"Kids! The news is giving an important announcement."
All of the kids get out of their beds, it was around 6:30 AM. Most of the kids were upset about being woken up. Ebony and Aqua were nervous. What was the announcement about?
"Hello, world. It is General Coal Hanson. I am here to announce a new revision to the "Naming Act" and the "Gender Forgery Act". Any people who are affected by these laws are to report to the nearest police station. That is any people born with colored hair, or any who identify as "Non-binary" are to report to the nearest police station." reporters started asking questions and he answered. most of the kids lost interest until he answered the question "what will happen to the fore mentioned people?"
"They will be removed. Those are all the questions I will be answering."
Everyone in the orphanage looked towards Aqua.
