After Wuxian was taken to the dungeon, the three heroes left had to finish the task; something hard for Wangji who was unable to walk with ease. Once it was over, they were returned back where they quickly delivered the news of what happened to the older disciple of the Jiang clan.

It didn't sit down well with his brother but eventually, he was calmed down. However, his worry did not leave since his brother wasn't returned by the time they were led back to their rooms.

He wasn't the only one though since Wangji shared his thoughts. He was back in the room with Zhouan and he was pacing up and down, wondering if Wuxian was okay and if he had been returned to his room; knowing Wen Chao he suspected that the latter wouldn't happen.

"If you keep walking like that, my healing will have been for nothing" the woman commented as she kept her back turned, her hands busy with carving a thick wooden stick she had picked up.

Her black hair was loose, the pin that was holding them up was now being used as a knife. It was a special golden handled knife, something passed down from heir to heir. It could pass as an ornament and thus be hidden, allowing the person to have even the smallest of weapon with them in case of emergency.

However, at that moment, she was using it to carve the piece of wood. It was a hobby she had, something she used to ease her mind. She was also wondering about the troublemaker disciple who she quickly started to warm up.

He was a gentle and caring soul, obviously trying his hardest to take all the blame and punishment instead of others. So selfless and honest, something she hadn't seen since her brother.

Truth to be told, he was reminding her a lot of her older brother who had recently perished both in the selfless character but also the mischievous mood. She was older than him and felt the need to help but also because she refused to let him get bullied just like that.

After all, that was their motto. Bring no harm to those who have done no harm. Wuxian had hurt no one and she refused to sit aside and let him get punished for standing up to evil and tyranny. Her position, though, was not the best and her power at that subject was very little.

She left out a sigh and looked above her shoulder, seeing Wangji now sitting on the bed but his posture was straight, and she was certain that he was thinking again. "Try and rest that leg of yours or you won't be able to walk tomorrow. Wen Chao knew where to strike to do damage and I am no medic *she returned back to the task* I am sure Wei Wuxian will be fine. He is a strong fellow and you will see, tomorrow he will be back with us and still dare to challenge Wen Chao"

The next morning Wangji woke up, used in waking up early at 5. He knew that soon they would be taken for breakfast if what they were served could be called that. He lifted his body and moved his legs, feeling his injured leg complaining but it was not as bad as yesterday.

He suspected that Zhouan had healed him again while he was asleep. Turning his head, his eyes spotted something next to his pillow. With shaking hands he picked it up, seeing that it was a rabbit carved on a piece of wood.

By seeing the animal, he thought of Wuxian and the day they had created their lanterns. He had drawn for him a rabbit, an indication of the rabbits they found in the Cold Pond. He smiled faintly and passed his hand over it gently, knowing exactly who the person behind it was.

Looking at the other side of the room, he found Zhouan still asleep. She seemed peaceful at that moment, her chest rising and falling slowly. He faintly recalled the memory he had with her, during their very first meeting.

He was much younger, no older than 10 and his brother was around 14. They were at Cloud Recess as per usual, waking down the wooden open corridors while making their way to the Pavilion Library.
