Things started to take a bit of a weird turn—at least, to Olivia—after that night and the mall incident.
The cast continued to film their show, having fun and making memories and hanging out or having group FaceTime calls extremely often, but one thing still hung in the air that bothered almost everyone; what was going on with Joshua and Olivia?
They all (especially Dara and Larry) noticed the bond Joshua and Olivia shared, especially how on set they'd almost always find their way to each other after a scene or on a break. The two started sitting extremely close to each other, their legs almost always touching, and even without the help from their friends (which they did "nudge" them, literally, at times), they couldn't seem to stay away from each other.
Except for when things seemed to get a bit lost in translation.
The cast began to film episode 6, where they all gathered in the cafeteria to film their big dance number for Miss Jen. They'd all been working hard on their choreography and the song, and once they finally filmed their last take, it felt like a victory.
Olivia ran over and hugged Dara, the two cheering in celebration. Olivia turned around to look for Joshua to run up and hug him too, but felt her heart sink once her eyes landed on him.
Joshua was embracing Sofia in his arms with the widest grin on his face, lifting her off the ground a bit. Olivia tried to play it off by looking away and going over to Joe, but Dara and Larry noticed.
"Hey, I'm sure it's nothing," Dara said as she placed a hand on Olivia's shoulder.
"What do you mean?" Olivia asked with a small laugh, playing it off. "Josh and Sofia hugging? Yeah, I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, and besides, why should I care? It's not like I'm his girlfriend or anything." She then gave Dara a smile before talking to other cast members, Dara sighing.
A few more events took place similar to that day, where Joshua and Sofia seemed to be spending more time together. When they were filming a scene where Ricky had to sing to Gina and Nini watched from the doorway, the emotions were real; at least, they were for Olivia.
When the director yelled cut, Joshua and Sofia grinned, high-fiving each other. As their hands touched, Joshua noticed Olivia walk out from the corner of his eye. "Excuse me," he found himself mumbling before putting down his guitar and running off after Olivia down the hall.
"Hey! Liv!" Joshua called out as he caught up to her. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything's fine," Olivia replied quickly, walking a bit faster.
"Are you sure? Because you seemed to walk out of there pretty fast—" Joshua continued before Olivia turned around to face him.
"I said I'm fine, Josh, nothing to worry about," Olivia snapped before realizing how close they were. She had spun around so quick that Joshua almost didn't stop, which ended up with their faces being inches apart, the two feeling each other's breath on their faces.
Time felt frozen as the two stood there, not moving a muscle at first. Even though the space between them was already minimal, they somehow found themselves slowly inching closer, the tips of their noses touching, but not knowing how they got there.
Just as their foreheads were about to touch, their lips even closer than before and the two feeling as if gravity was about to take over, Olivia cleared her throat and backed away, remembering their current situation. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snap."
"You're fine," Joshua almost stuttered, his eyes never leaving hers.
"You should get back there, I'm gonna go find Dara or Julia or someone. You sounded great, by the way," Olivia said with a small smile before quickly turning away and walking down the hall, trying to slow down the fast pace of her beating heart.
"Okay," Joshua replied quietly, his voice barely above a whisper as she turned away. He too had to attempt to slow his heart rate, the excitement or fear or both or whatever emotion he was currently feeling regarding what just happened affecting him.
"Hey, you guys good?" Sofia asked as she poked her head out through the door a little ways down the hall. "Where's Olivia?"
"She's fine," Joshua nodded. "At least, I think. I don't know what happened, but I feel like I maybe had something to do with it? I don't know, girls can be confusing."
"Oh, girl trouble?" Sofia raised an eyebrow as she let out a small laugh. "Come here, let's talk it out, I think maybe I can help."
