Faye found herself waiting on a bench in the garden for her twin and cousin. She hadn't been able to see much of them since the beginning mainly for having different schedules and living in different towers. Despite making quite a few friendships, Faye missed Freya and Asteria. Soon the nearly white haired girl appeared in front of her. The two hugged and sat down, ready for their catch up session. Freya, as always, was late, but that didn't stop the two girls from talking.
"There is just so much to learn. My head will explode from so many archaic languages," complained Faye.
"Yeah, well at least your teacher is not telling you to talk to trees. If we were mortals, that lady would be locked up in a mental institution," said Asteria and sighed.
Her Natural Magic lessons were anything but educational. So far her teacher had made them meditate on rocks in the small pond. Unsuccessful. People began jumping in it. She made them talk to trees, to ask them questions and 'develop a relationship with them'. None of the trees responded. And to top it all, she made them stare at sand hourglasses for an hour. It was unamusing and people fell asleep.
Freya finally appeared late as usual and sat down next to the two girls, who were in the middle of telling their most ridiculous stories of the week. There were quite a few.
"Hello, my lovelies. What a fine day it is today," smiled Freya.
"What's up with you?" Asteria raised an eyebrow at her friend.
"Oh, nothing, nothing." Freya looked around." Well, it's something, I come bearing news. So there is this party happening ..." Freya stopped talking, trying to be dramatic but continued when Faye pushed her. "So this guy's friends are organizing it, and they will announce it soon but he invited me now, and I quote, to beat the competition!"
The three girls began squalling. Their voices were so high pitched a few passing students turned to stare at them and the mess they were.
"Who is he? When is the party?" Asteria shouted in Freya's face, while shaking her arm.
Freya shushed her two friends. Once they were silent, she told them everything.
"Okay, so he is this very dreamy guy from my Path and he is in the year above us. We just started talking in the middle of a game the witches play in the common room. So he just began talking to me, and like flirting. Oh that was last week by the way, and last night he came to my room, and we just hung out in my corner, and he asked me. I'm sad he didn't kiss me though. I was waiting for it, it would have been just like in the movies." Freya ran out of breath. Her cheeks were rosy and smiling. "I think they should announce it on Monday or something. I don't know. I just like him a lot."
"But you met him like a week ago ..."
The skepticism in Faye's voice, made Freya's smile disappear. The girl expected her sister to be excited for her and support her. She was ready to defend herself, when Asteria said:
"I think Faye is right, you should take more time to get to know him and not jump straight in. But if you really like him, take your time. He won't run away."
"But I know him. I've spent almost all my evenings with him and we talk a lot, he even helps me study!"
"This is nothing. One week is too soon, Freya. Just give it a bit more time," pleaded her twin.
"Look. I don't want to fight. I just wanted to tell you that I like a guy. I'm not marrying him or anything." Freya swept her hair away from her face. "Anyways speaking of guys, how's Basil, A?"
"I can barely stand him. He is just so annoying."
The twins shook their heads and picked another topic. Asteria usually shared everything with them, but helping Basil and them knowing that she actually had a normal conversation with him was not going to happen. If they learned about it then it would lead to a lot of teasing and jokes that she wasn't ready for. They were her best friends, but sometimes Freya could be too much. She also didn't understand why they found him so date-able. Asteria found him lanky and too much, while Freya said that he was unconventionally handsome and easy going. The blonde girl did not see it.
Dinner time came and the three girls went inside. It had been a long time since they hung out together. Before the Conservatory, they used to be together every day. Now Asteria could feel how slowly they were pulling away from each other. Both Faye and Freya spoke about the different friends they had made and the things they did with other people, it made Asteria feel sad because although she did become friends with her roommates and some people from her classes and tower, she did not have such stories to tell. Despite sharing all of her morning classes with Freya, the twin began sitting with other people every class and forgetting about her. The things that were exciting in Asteria's life, Basil and the lessons with Pythia, she couldn't tell them about it. It just felt so impossible.

This chapter is a very short and not the best but I am going to edit it in the near future. In the meantime I hope you enjoy Freya!
