:Chapter One:

I let out an angry huff of air as I lunged for the vampire again. "Dammit! I gave you a whole dose of Dead Man's blood! Why aren't you floored yet!"

The vampire let out a shaky laugh before attempting another punch, failing, and falling to the ground. Shrugging I walked over to him and cut his head off. Destiny had Chosen me for Maine, and here I was slaying the tenth vamp this week. Must be a nest... I thought as I walked away from the vampire's body. It always felt like it was either a vamp, werewolf, or ghost. I had once gotten a Demon, sadly never an Angel.

"Why, God, why can't you send me something exciting like a wendigo or gin?" I solemnly asked the big man up stairs.

Trudging through the murky summer night to my beautiful, blood red mustang I heard a rustling noise. I stiffened and waited for something to happen. From where I stood I couldn't see my car in the night fog of the coast.

"Dude," a young male voice said. "check out this awesome car... It's so sick."

My eyes widened seconds later when I heard the sound of glass braking. No, no, not my baby! I took off running for my car. When I got there I saw two teenagers, sixteen, seventeen at most. They had broken my drivers side window and one of them was sitting in my seat.

I slowed my pace so they wouldn't hear me and I crouched down to walk up to them. Deciding to go around the back seeing as they were both looking into my car, I stood up and silently stood behind the boy that was standing outside my car.

"You boys like cars?" I asked, my voice strangely hoarse compared to other girls.

The two screamed like girls and turned to face me. I chewed on my cheek waiting for an answer.

The one in my car answered for them both. "I-is this your car? 'Cause, I had no idea..."

I held up my beheading tool, still dripping with blood, and pointed at the boy in my precious car. His eyes widened. "Now, I just finished killing a vampire over there, and I would really enjoy not killing a vampire for one night this week, you two are just irritating me more. Give me your names," the two traded scared glances with one another. "I'm not going to turn you in, you stupid asshats! Just give my your names!"

The other one answered this time. "We're not worried about that... You're the Chosen one, for Maine, I mean?"

"As of 2010. How do you know about my scary world?" I was beyond annoyed now. How the hell did they know I was the Hunter of this state?

"We are into that stuff, to say the least..." The one in my car replied this time. "Jaspar Tantorn."

Even though he had reached out his hand to shake mine, I didn't comply. My breath caught in my throat and I was barely able to choke out my next words. "Get out of my car," the boy, Jaspar, gave my a strange look. "Get out of my damn car!"

The poor boy got out this time, terrified. I got in after him and sped away after turning it on. Hot tears were rolling down my cheeks as I drove down the road back to my reserved coastal home. I had just re-met my little brother. Jaspar had been twelve when I left; I knew that he was one of the people that took my leaving the hardest. My family was in Maine now, more specifically, they were in Old Orchard. A strangled sob escaped my throat and I hit my steering wheel over and over again.

Almost home a police officer pulled my over. I pulled myself together quickly and hid my weapon in the black leather of the backseat.

"Miss, are you aware that you were driving recklessly over the speed limit?" the polite sounding officer asked.
