Shota Aizawa opened his eyes and looked around in confusion.

He was lying on a futon but he was not in his bedroom or even his apartment for that matter. The floor his futon was on was concrete and he was wrapped in his yellow sleeping bag instead of the blankets and sheets he normally slept in.

For a moment, Shota blinked groggily and tried to remember what had happened. A quick glance at his watch, however, solved the mystery for him.

It was Valentine's Day.

Shota smiled and snuggled down into his nice warm sleeping bag.

Valentine's Day had always been a source of annoyance for him. It was day when normally rational people did stupid things and bought candy shaped like hearts. Everywhere he looked, people would be pushed up against one another, smiling brightly.

Shota normally tried to ignore the day. Treating it as if it were any other. He would have been successful too if it weren't for a certain green haired co-worker.

One Valentine's Day, he had woken up to find that his apartment decorated in garish pink and red streamers. There had been a heart shaped balloon tied to his favorite chair in the living room and sitting on his table was a red heart shaped box of chocolates with an attached card.

Some sugar for the sweetest person I know. XOXOXO :)-Emi

Last Valentine's Day, she had left a heart-shaped strawberry pancake on his kitchen table. If that hadn't been enough, she had shown up while he was on patrol and started singing "Love Story" at the top of her lungs.

That incident had led Shota to two revelations: the first was that Ms. Joke had a set of lungs that rivaled Hizashi and the second was that if he wanted a peaceful Valentine's Day then he would have to take matters into his own hands.

So here Shota was, hidden in an old abandonned storage unit far away from the green-haired menace and her relentless attempts to force him to respect Valentine's Day.

Shota grinned and pulled out his phone. He clicked on an app and a live feed of his bedroom in his apartment popped up. If his calculations were correct than Ms. Joke should be arriving any minute to find the surprise he had left for her.

Emi hummed contentedly as the lock on Shota's door clicked. With a grin, She opened the door and picked up the decorations she had bought the other day.

Shota was a stick in the mud. He just did not understand the joy and laughter of Valentine's Day. If not for her heroic efforts, Emi was certain that Shota would refuse to recognize it as anything special.

He would drown in his own funk and the laughter within in him would die forever. Then who would Emi have to pick on or treat her special pet project?

Placing the streamers was quick work, though it was harder to place the Happy Valentine's Day banner without using a chair or some other bit of furniture. She had to be absolutely silent, if Shota woke up then she would not be allowed to complete her work.

Placing the pink gift basket on the table, Emi smiled in satisfaction. She reached down into the bag she had brought and pulled out her best piece of work yet, a little green stuffed bear with a heart in between its paws that she had dressed up as herself. She had the perfect place for it too.

Emi carefully opened the door to Shota's bedroom and peaked in. A blanket covered lump lay on the futon beside a low table. She smiled and crept in, heading for the table to place the bear.

Then everything went wrong.

Emi stepped on a loose floor board which squeaked loudly beneath her feet. The blanket covered lump on the futon jumped up and she found herself looking into a pair of eyes and a mass of blond hair that definitely did not belong to Shota.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Present Mic shouted at her at the top of his lungs.

Emi dropped the bear and clapped hands over her ears wincing.

"Better question, what are you doing here?" She said.

"I LIVE HERE," Present Mic yelled.

"At Shota's apartment?" Emi asked.

Present Mic blinked and looked around himself.

"I don't_Shota must have brought me here last night after I got drunk," he said.

"You got drunk?"

Present Mic rubbed his head and winced.

"Well, yeah," he admitted. "Shota rarely goes out drinking with me and he just kept pouring so I couldn't say no..."

Emi frowned.

"Where is Shota?" Present Mic asked.

"If I were to guess, probably hiding somewhere. He got you drunk so that he could leave you here as a decoy for me," Emi said.

Present Mic gave her a funny look.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but how do you even know Shota?" he asked.

"We work the same beat in the city, we were bound to meet. When I found someone who rarely smiled or laughed, well, I took it as a challenge," Emi said. "My hero name is Ms. Joke. Nice to meet you, Present Mic."
Emi picked up the bear and set on the table.

She then motioned to Present Mic.

"Let's adjourn to the kitchen. We can get you something for your hang-over and discuss how we are going to get back at Shota."
Present Mic's eyes shone with glee and he grinned.

"You got it," he said.
