Love is of many kinds, love to your love, love to your family, love to your friends. I have seen many people die for their love and family, but I have never seen anybody die for their friends and I think, I also didn't want to die.My mom and my dad separated when I was six. I used to spend every winter with my mom, but this winter was different, as I was moving in with my mom, when my dad remarried.
I looked at the empty room with filled heart, as it stared back at me with empty eyes. My dad hugged me tightly for a minute and then drove me to the airport. I was wearing jeans with V-neck black shirt as a farewell dress. My flight was direct, LA to London, which was peaceful. I was waiting for my mom outside the airport and she was as usual late.
"Lisa, Hi."
This voice was very familiar for me but made me jerk. I looked back and my mom was standing with her car. Her golden-brown hairs were on her face and she was wearing her favorite colored T shirt with jeans. She was very different from my imagination. She was happy, might be to see me.
"Hi Mom, how are you?" I asked with a smile.
"I am fine. I am so sorry. I am late honey, traffic." She hugged me and I hugged back.
"It's okay mom, I am used to it"
"How was your flight?" She asked as we moved to her car.
"It was nice."
She put my two bags on the back seat, and we drove to her house.
I was worried about many things as I needed a car for myself. I knew that I could buy it from my savings and previous school funds. Besides this, I was worried about my school. It was my biggest worry because, when I thought about it. I felt my stomach twisted. I was deep in my thoughts which were disturbed, when I was pushed to the dash-bored and then back on the seat.
"What happened mom?" I asked because I was too much in my thoughts to see.
oh! we met an accident.
"Nothing. it was a stupid rash driver. you didn't see?" She asked, and I didn't answer.
The silence continued and it was making me curious to know what she did about my school. It was me who broke the silence.
"Mom, my school arrangements are done?" As I spoke, I stared at her.
"Oh! honey, don't worry about it I had done everything already." She assured me.
But it didn't help me, because I wasn't worried about my school. I was worried about my first day at school. She stopped the car in front of her house. The house looked the same as it was before. I got out of the car and noticed the weather was cold, which I didn't notice before. I had two bags and I picked them up in one turn. My room was on second floor. That floor had only one room that was mine, besides that, a laundry and a store room. My bedroom was facing the backyard of my house. There was a thick forest behind the yard, which was creepy to look at.
I placed my bags at the corner of my room and took the toiletries with me to the toilet and got freshen up. It was six in the evening. I didn't want to sleep so I went downstairs to my mom. She was in the kitchen cooking something. I sat on the counter and grabbed an apple from a basket beside. I asked.
"Mom, how's your job?"
My mom was a reporter of a channel. Last time I came she signed that contract. I didn't know what happened next, but I knew that she got fired a lot.
"My job is going good. I signed with my channel for 10 years." She said excitedly.
"Oh great." I answered.
I really wanted to ask her about a car shop where I could buy cheap second-hand cars. I didn't want to be a burden on her. So, I asked her with a little hesitation.
"Err... Mom, do you know any second-hand car shop where I can buy cheap cars, as I don't want to go to school on foot." As I spoke, she stared at me with an expression which I couldn't guess. Shock. Might be.
"You are going to buy a car by yourself.?" She asked.
"Yup. I have some money saved. I think I can." I replied biting the apple i had in my hand.
"Honey I have already bought you a car. I knew that you were going to need that so any other worries...?" She asked with a smile.
Wow! free car. That was my first thought.
"Really. I didn't see that outside." I asked happily.
"Yes, it's not outside yet, but it will be at your doorsteps tomorrow morning and I am sure you will love it." She replied with the same excitement.
"Thanks but mom you didn't have to do that, I can buy myself a car."
"Lisa, you are embarrassing me now. I am your mother, I have that right to buy you anything." She was serious, so I dropped the topic.
"Yeah, you have. Thank you, mom". We sat in silence for several minutes. It was me again who broke the silence.
"So, what you are cooking?" I asked.
"Your favorite cheese pasta with garlic." She replied with a smile.
"Hmm yummy." I replied with an excitement.
When the silence continued, I jumped down from the counter and walked to the fridge opened it up picked a bottle of malt and said.
"I am going to set my stuff, I will be right back." She smiled and nodded.
I went to my room and opened up my bags. There was a lot of stuff. I put my clothes in the closet and set my shoes. When I was done with it, I opened my handbag, there was a picture of me with my dad. I put that picture on the side table. I didn't notice, how time went by but when I looked at the clock hanging on a big empty wall above the TV. It was nine already. I heard my mom shouting. "Lisa... Lisa. Honey dinner is ready." I felt hungry so, I went downstairs.
"Wow mom, smells really nice." I commented as I descended the staircase.
We ate in silence mostly. Sometimes, she asked questions about my previous school. We exchanged some comments on weather too.
"Good night, Mom." I said as I was done with my dish. I was halfway to my room but she called me again. I turned back and smiled. She followed me on the stairs.
"Honey." As she spoke, she put her arms on my shoulder. "I am very glad you came to live with me. Please, not as a daughter, as friend too, ask me anything you want. Share with me anything you want. Okay?"
"Thanks mom."
"Good night baby. Sleep well." She hugged me and smiled at me. I smiled back at her and went to my room.
