Good to be in my room. My one bag was untouched, I thought to open it, but I felt really exhausted. So, I arranged my bed, went to the washroom and got ready for the bed. My first night in London was cold. I opened the window to feel the air but when I saw the forest it scared me a little. So, I slid down the window and went to sleep. My night was dreamless but restless.
Gray light woke me up. I stretched myself and moaned. I went to bathroom and took a warm shower. I knew that it rains 300 out of 365 days in London. I wore clothes that came first in my hand, even though, I was planning to dress properly on my first day but now when I had to, I didn't want to. I was missing my dad, Tom. He always preferred his name over daddy or dad. May be that reminded him that he was still young.
I knew the weather was to be cold so, I wore my thickest jacket to avoid the cold. My car, which mom bought for me, was still a surprise. I descended the stairs and found out my mom was gone. The house was empty. I got scared for a minute but then I got the note of my mom which was attached on the refrigerator.
"Honey, I am sorry I had to go early, duty calls. But your car is outside, and the keys are in the fridge. I know you love to eat flakes in the breakfast. They are in the second cupboard. Best of luck for your first day.
Love, Emily".
I took keys from the fridge and ate my breakfast. The panic was hitting me as the time passed. I was so nervous about my first day.
After eating my breakfast, I stood up, took a deep breath and stepped out the door. It was foggy outside, but still could see nearby things. I looked for my car. There was only one car and that was a silver BMW and I was sure as hell, that wasn't my car. But I pressed the button on the key-remote and that car beeped twice. My eyes widened. That was my car.
"NO" I chuckled a little and got in my new car. I was so happy with my car. My mom made my first day less awkward.
The parking lot was half filled and I got a nice spot for parking. No one was staring at my car because everyone there got somewhat similar cars.
My first day at school. Great.
It was middle of the semester. I got out of the car and now everybody was staring at me. It was like I had a spotlight on me. My heart was racing like a car, I could feel it in my throat. I took a deep breath to calm myself while walking, but my nervousness took my actions and I collapsed with a girl.
Oh! crap.
"I...I...am S-s-sorry." I apologized with a broken voice.
"It's okay." She smiles and after a short pause she continued.
"You are new right? Because I have never seen you here before."
I smiled and nodded.
"My name is Isabella and yours?" She asked me.
"I am Lisa... Ken." I replied with an awkward smile.
"Okay." She replied back with an awkward tone.
I had to get my slip and I knew that I could find it in the main office which was right in front of me but going there with someone seemed like a good idea.
"Can you help me finding my slip?" I looked at her carefully and she nodded.
"Yes, sure." As we walked to the building, she asked me "So in the middle of semester.? huh...?"
"Yeah. I moved here with my mom. I was living with my dad in LA. But it got a little complicated there. So, I came here."
"Oh, right. Okay, here we are." She pointed at the office.
I smiled and said. "Thanks".
I was about to turn away that's when she called me again.
"Hey Lisa," I looked at her.
She continued. "Today is your ragging day, sweetheart." She winked and went away.
Her words pressed my heart for a minute, her voice was ringing as a bell in my ears. My legs were shivering because I have heard many stories about ragging. The panic hit me like a wave of water.
"What!" I gasped.
But no one answered. She was gone. I felt my stomach twisted. I put my hand on it in an attempt to hold myself together and went to the office. My throat was dry as desert and I was scared like a child. I walked to receptionist.
"Hi... I am Lisa Ken." I informed her with the shaking voice.
"Oh. Yeah yeah." An aged woman answered me. She had white hair, blue eyes. She seemed perfect for this job.
"Here is your slip. Get it signed from every teacher and return it back to me at the end of the day and, here is the school map. All of your classes are highlighted." She said as she handed me the things.
"Thanks." I replied with the same tone and went outside.
The fear of ragging was still in my mind. I knew that Isabella would come or at least send someone to rag me. As i walked out of the door. I saw some boys walking towards me. My instinct hit me, and I collected myself, as they approached.
They made a circle around me and a lump rose in my throat and bells started ringing in my ears. I was sweating in this cold weather. I rotated myself and counted them. They were almost twenty. One man with at least six feet height spoke to me.
"Give me your bag".
I tried to suck the lump to make a better sound.
"Why?" I almost succeeded but, the fear was clear in my voice.
"Give me your bag!" He repeated with anger.
"Why?" I repeated after him, trying to be angry, but it came out as a plea.
With a sigh, he grabbed the strap of my bag and all of the sudden my bag was gone.
"What... are you doing?" I choked as he opened my bag and threw all my stuff on the floor.
From the side pocket, he got my car key. It was a really bad time when I put my car key in the bag instead of my pocket.
"Give me my keys back" I pleaded, and they all started laughing like i told a joke. It hurt me a lot. I could feel tears in my eyes. I blinked twice to avoid them.
"Your car is now mine" He answered, when they finished laughing.
Is he serious? I thought to myself
I opened my mouth to say something but.
"Give her the keys back!" Before I could speak, someone else spoke.
