Gregor didn't know how to react. He felt like the world was spinning around him. He unwrapped his arms from around Luxa and used them to stabilize them. He moved away from her. Thoughts ran through his mind as he tried to understand what she had just said. She was engaged. She loved someone else. Gregor stood up and backed away. She had broken him. The thought of being with his love again kept him going. Luxa quickly got up and went to grab his hand. He pulled away just like she did earlier. That's why she was so surprised to see him in bed earlier, she was expecting it to be the other guy. "Please Gregor let me explain," she was on the brink of tears again. She was begging him.

Gregor stopped backing up, "Why should I? I came back for you. I lied to everyone else I loved for you. I was planning on leaving my family for you. For heaven's sake Luxa, I drove 8 hours the day I got your letter because it gave me hope that I could have a life with you. I loved you... " Gregor's sadness had turned to anger and he lashed out on her. He regretted it the instant he said it. he looked up into her usual bright purple eyes to see something he hadn't expected, pain.

As quickly as their eyes connected they fell apart. Her face fell, she felt ashamed in herself, "You have no reason to but please. It isn't what it seems like. I am so sorry. I can't make up for what I've done, but will you at least let me explain?" She was pleading, she was trying anything she could to keep him there. She couldn't leave her again

A million thoughts raced through his head, as Gregor thought about it plenty of options came to mind, "Well, maybe they could still be friends or maybe she still had feelings for me." As much as her betrayal hurt, he couldn't leave her, not like this, "I don't know Luxa. I don't know if I want to know," he said sadly.

"When you left, it hurt so badly. I didn't leave my room for almost a month. Howard had to literally drag me to the bathroom and give a bath to get me started. The first year I felt like I was sleepwalking through my life. It was meaningless. I thought you would come back then the second year passed and I gave up hope. I threw myself into my duties, I worked myself to the bone and then my uncle York, became ill. One of his generals took over in his place and he had a son a little older than us. So there was a marriage arranged for us, and if I didn't he threatened to stop providing us with food and materials to rebuild the city. I had to Gregor, it was what was best for my city. So around 2 months ago it was arranged. It isn't even going to be a real marriage, he is still gonna live at the Front and become the next head of their military."

Hearing this stunned Gregor, he couldn't believe Luxa was getting married. He had been away from her for just as long and never given up. He would never have allowed himself to get married, he loved Luxa and only Luxa. But he knew nothing came before Regalia for Luxa, apparently not even him. "Do you love him?" Gregor asked in a low quiet voice, "Was everything this morning real? Or was it just another act? Was it just to keep the beloved warrior by your side for the spectacle?" When he finished, Gregor couldn't help but look down. He couldn't look into Luxa's eyes; the eyes he loved so much filled with so much pain at his words.

Luxa moved closer to him, she raised his chin so he looked her in the eyes. Then she kissed him. Gregor didn't kiss back then pulled away. He stood there stunned, she pulled back and looked down, "I'm sorry," she muttered, "I don't know what got into me."

She turned around to leave but Gregor grabbed her hand, "Luxa..." Gregor couldn't find the words he needed. He was mad at her for getting engaged and sad, feeling like he wasn't enough for her. "Luxa," he stammered out again, "Wha... why..."

"You're as dumb as you were the day you left," Luxa muttered to herself. "I love you, you idiot."

Then, before Luxa could say anything else, he put his hand on the side of her face and pulled her closer and kissed her. She was stunned at first, but soon melted into the kiss. Everything faded away and it was just Gregor and Luxa. When he pulled away he looked down at her a, "I love you too."
