Aelin

Back to normal time

Once again he won't even look at me, it's pissing me off. It's almost like he knows what I'm thinking and exactly the right moment to just ignore me. It's infuriating. Maybe I did something to upset him. No, no, no, I only just met him. Scrap that. I haven't yet met him. Suddenly a hand was being waved in front of my face, 'hello, are you listening', Elena questioned as Baehkyun explained about the prophet for like the tenth time.

I quickly nodded before asking, 'isn't it illegal in the fae kingdom to have unregistered powers though, and this prophet can apparently control four elements.' Baekhyun sighed and whipped his hair to the side, 'he might not be fae, for all we know he could be a goblin', Elena chuckled hysterically, 'then we are screwed.'

'Has he returned yet?' Taehyung burst into the room, 'Jungkook?' He turned his gaze to mine. Finally I got his goddam attention, was it really that hard to look at me, jeez, he must have a really stiff nec.... 'Now isn't the time to joke Aelin', Taehyung reprimanded, but I swear I didn't say that out loud, 'how did you.....' I began before Elena chuckled and said, 'didn't you know he's telepathic.'

Shit, I couldn't stop the blush if I wanted to as it colored my cheeks all the way to the tops of my ears. So you literally could read my mind the whole time then? 'Yep', I turned to Elena and said through gritted teeth, 'that would have been useful information to have before we arrived here, don't you think.'

'Well actually it wasn't tha..' 'enough', Taehyung cut in. 'Baekhyun, any news of Jungkook.' He looked at his feet before shaking his head. 'Goddamit', 'do you think maybe he is being, you know tortu....' 'don't say it', he growled before walking out the way he came in. 'Yes', Baekhyun added, 'he is definitely being tortured for answers, we can only hope he doesn't give them.'

'Why isn't anyone going to find him?' Baekhyun stood up, 'it's not that simple Aelin, we have one of their prisoners here, still unconscious, we had to sacrifice Jungkook to get him out, we can't keep sacrificing soldiers to save other soldiers who didn't do enough to survive.' Elena also stood up, 'Baekhyun you know Jungkook better then anyone, you know there must be a significant reason as to why he didn't make it out, otherwise you wouldn't have sent him as the bate in the first place.' Baekhyun silently nodded head held high, then followed in the direction Taehyung had left in. Everyone seems on edge since the boy was brought back.

It has been two days and he still hasn't woken up, to be honest when we removed the paper bag from his face we were all surprised. His face had been cut and bruise-free and we wondered if he had ever taken that bag off. He had messy black hair, and his facial features looked young but worn out in some ways. His body was another matter though. Even the medics were horrified.

'How many times did they torture him.' 'Looks like a few years if you ask me.' I agreed, cuts upon cuts littered every inch of his body, bruises covering where the cuts didn't reach, there were burns too, on his neck mainly, and irreversible damage to his wrists and ankles, clearly from the struggle to get away from the pain. I think everyone just wants answers to all these questions.

Who is the prophet? When is the war coming? can the profit stop it?

And I can't say I don't want an answer to them either.

Sunggyu

Why?

Do you want to know why I saved the boy from pain?

Well, I cannot tell you. Why? Because I have no idea.

At that moment everything just screamed at me to spare him, in fact, every prisoner that has entered here has had the same effect on me, but this time I decided to act on it. It didn't feel like a betrayal to Jooheon, it felt good, like I was affecting people's lives and not just littering their bodies with cuts. Evelyn slept next to me in bed as I thought.
