The hours in the hospital felt like days. The whole time there, my heart was pounding in my chest. I felt like I was about to throw up, cry and pass out all at the same time. Destiny had been bought into another room and we were told to sit n the waiting area. I was picking the stitching of the itchy sofa , trying to wrap my head around the situation. How did Destiny hang herself?
That's all I was told, no backstory.
My head still hurt from falling on the ground at school. I felt the dried blood on my hair, making my parents look my way.
"Oh my gosh Madelyn!" My dad walked in and saw me. I hadn't seen my dad for over a month.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" I blurt out. It was a genuine question- he never liked me or Destiny, and I often had to protect her from him. I felt such relief when my mum kicked him out and got a new boyfriend. I just think I could of said it better.
"Is this the way you teach Madelyn to speak?"
"Stop calling me that!" I stood up and ram into the bathroom, crying my eyes out.My phone, after around twenty minutes, connected to the WiFi. It started going off like crazy. I look at it, wiping my tears away with my sleeve.
"Don't give up hope" from Bailey
"Destiny's a great little girl." From Olive
"Never give up" From Jaeryin.
"I might do just that" I responded, when there was a knock on the other side of the door.
"Mads, come out of there, please."
I hear my mum's voice.
"What"
"The doctor wants to see you"
"Why" I remained inside the small stall.
"Go to her and see"
I slide my phone into my pocket, but , due to my shakey hands , it slips and falls on the floor. I see the glass shatter, but I pick it up and put it back into my pocket.
"You ok?" My mum asks, startles by the noise, but her tone is still deep, and sad.
"Yes" I reply.
The glass was digging into my thigh with every movement, but I kept walking into the room.
"Destiny....put up a fight. I'm sorry."
She never said Destiny was dead. So I guess I always assumed she wasn't . But I saw her cold body on the bed. I saw her, lifeless.
