SYNOPSIS

          The United States would never be the same after the great civil war of 1984. Following the dissolution of services like the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA, two national security agencies—FROST and FLARE—were created to ensure civilian obedience and their safety.

          Finn Chevalier hasn't ever known anything but fighting. Joining FLARE at sixteen while still mourning her mother had never been part of her plans, but she'd like to think she's really darn good with a bow and arrow and a sharp tongue. It has quick become the new normal, five years later, and she doesn't dare question a thing; how can you even do that with your own father being your boss and one of the most powerful people in the entire country?

          When Dominic North, FROST's director and her sworn enemy by proxy, comes to her with new information regarding the murder of her mother and his father and proposes an alliance to get to the bottom of what actually happened five years ago, she's torn, stuck between two feuding agencies and the desire for justice. It doesn't help that Dominic is as magnetic as he is, different from anyone she has ever met, and shows no signs of wanting to prolong a rivalry between families that has been burning up for over thirty years.

          With her turbulent personal and professional life—a tense relationship, an enemy-turned-ally that brings up complicated feelings, rookies to train—it would be almost too easy for her to not notice everything happening around the country. Riots, murders, secret codes, a third agency hellbent on destroying everything FROST and FLARE have built. With every step forward on their investigation, Finn and Dominic slowly piece together the evidence and discover they're not that different after all and facing a common threat, one that brings everything together, is much easier as a team.

          When no one around her can be trusted, Finn will have to choose—her legacy, or her alliance.
