Evan drove me to school, which I was really thankful for. I had no idea where Milden High School was located or where to park my car or where the administation was inside the building. Evan parked his jeep and rushed a hand through his blonde hair. I suddenly acknowlegded his sexyness. Because I had spend most of my puberty being depressed and not caring about anything or anyone, I had never looked at boys in thát way.
For the same reason I sucked with make-up and it took me almost an hour to put it on that morning. The dress I wore was plain white and a little short, but Amber chose it and said that it looked great on me. I knew I wasn't extremely beautiful nor was I extremely ugly. Just average-looking.
Evan walked slightly ahead of me as we entered the school building. At the moment I stepped inside, some nerdy guy approached me. His awful appearance made me feel pretty. He looked like a real nerd: glasses, braces and an enormous amourt of pimples. Not to mention his horrible taste concerning clothes.
"Hey, you must be the new girl. I know everyone here and I certainly haven't seen you before," the guy said, offering me his hand to shake.
I walked past him and mumbled a "good for you".
A way better looking guy who walked past me laughed. "That was rude."
I shrugged. "I can be nice, I if try," I answered. Evan didn't notice that I had stopped walking so I jogged to catch up with him.
Perhaps I was rude, but it was definitely necessairy. Although I didn't want to belong to the popular, cool kids, the nerds were way below my standards. And when you act nice to the nerds in the beginning, you won't be able to get rid of them later. I knew that much.
After recieving my timetable from the school's administrative assistent, Evan walked me to my biology class. He didn't have biology so I was nervous to be all on my own in a classroom full of people I hadn't met yet.
Evan noticed my unease. "It'll be fine, most of them are nice. Except for Shannon, you might dislike her." The last part of his sentence sounded like a huge understatement.
"Thanks, I'll see you at lunch, okay?"
"Sure." He waved me goodbye and I stepped into the class, all eyes looking at me.
A guy in the back of the class whistled and some people laughed at him. It was the start of a new semester, so I could sit wherever I liked. I walked towards a girl who was sitting alone and was fanatically writing something down in her notebook.
"Can I sit next to you?" I asked.
"No," she replied, "this seat is taken."
I didn't dare to asked someone else, afraid to get the same answer. Therefore, I walked to an empty seat and waited while the class filled. The last person to enter the class was a boy with brown hair, who sat down next to me.
The teacher began talking but the guy next to me ignored her completely. "Your name is?" he asked as if it were a statement.
"Giselle."
He smiled. "I like that."
"And yours?"
His smile widened. "Guess."
"You're name is Guess?" I tried not to be rude this time.
The boy who's name appearantly wasn't Guess, laughed aloud. "You're funny, but no. I mean that I want you to guess my name."
I felt my face becoming red. "Uhm, I don't know. Thomas?"
"Oh come on! Is that the best you can come up with? Try again."
