Chapter 11

Chris's POV

I watched the fire, staring deep into it just like I was going deep in my thoughts. I couldn't help but think that something else was going to go wrong. I mean it always does, movies prove it. As I came out of my thoughts noticed that the fire was starting to go out. I looked over to where Molly and Alyssa were sitting but they were gone. The only one still outside with me was Glenn. I never realized that everyone went to sleep and Glenn came to sit with me. Across the low fire I could see him. The way he looked at the fire made me think he was deep in thought just as I was. "I'm going to get more wood" I said as I stood up.

"Huh, what" Glenn said suprised.

"I said I was going to get more wood, for the fire" I repeated

Oh, ok, fine, don't go to far out into the woods" he warned. I nodded and was off.

The woods was dark, and I mean really dark. I couldn't even see till my eyes adjusted. As I walked around looking for fire wood I noticed something in the distance. There was a dark figure moving quickly though the woods. It can't be a walker, I thought, it's to fast. I ducked behind a tree and watched as the figure scurried away. Was it watching the camp. I decided to be more careful as I walked back to the camp. The woods was dangerous, anything could be in them. As I was walking back there was a tug at my leg, then something pulled me down. It was a walker! It climbed on top of me as I tried to push it away. It was bigger then me. I managed to slip away and stand up but it pulled me down again. I tried to grab my pocket knife but I couldn't reach my arm down as I was fighting the creature. I tried to let out a scream but couldn't. Silent, nothing. The only noise was the sound of the walker wrestling me, and winning. I pushed and pushed but I couldn't get it off me. I couldn't scream out to Glenn. I couldn't scream at all. I looked over and saw Glenn still staring into the fire. He was ignoring everything as he was in his thoughts. I was terrified. There was nothing I could do but make the time I was killed farther away. There was no avoiding it. Just as the walker was about to bite down on my arm with his dark red bloody teeth I went deep into thought again and it felt like time stopped. You can't let this happen, you can't die now, you've been though to much to die now. You have a little sister you need to take care of, your responsible for her, you can't just leave her.

My thoughts ran through my head and all of a sudden gave me strength. "IM NOT DIEING NOW" I screamed. I pulled my arm away from him and used all my strength to reach down and grab my knife. I forced it deep into the walkers head. As I pulled the knife out there was dark blood that oozed out of its head. It dripped onto my shirt covering it with a new layer of blood. I slid out from under it and leaned up against a tree. I brought my legs up to my chest and covered my face with my hands. As I pulled my hands away I realized that there was blood on them and now it was all over my face. I reached up to feel my cheek and there was sticky thick blood. I rapped my arms around my knees and stared down at the ground.

I heard foot steps running towards me but I didn't look over. They got on one knee right in front of me. It was Rick. I could see he was saying things but I couldn't hear anything. Complete silence. He tried shaking me but there was nothing. It was like I was frozen. I don't know why. I didn't feel or hear anything. He pushed up my chin and looked me straight in the eyes. He was saying things but there was no sound. Then suddenly I hear him say the word "sister" and he got up and ran towards our tent. I saw Glenn run over to me. He looked at the walker then me. "Are you ok dude, I'm sorry, I would have came to help but I couldn't hear you" he uttered in suprise. I didn't look at him. I just stared at the ground again. Then I heard running foot steps again. Rick had come back carrying Delanie. He set her down next to me and she rapped her arms around me. I saw Rick and Glenn start to drag the walker away. Delanie put her hand on my cheek and tried to wipe away the blood. It was no use though, it had already dried. "Chris, are you ok, please talk to me" she said as she wrapped her arms around me again. I had no words. I was silent. I unwrapped my arms from my legs and put them around Delanie. I hugged her as tight as I could without hurting her. "As long as your safe I'm ok" I replied. I lifted her up and started walking back to our tent. After Glenn and Rick disposed of the body they caught up with us. "It's weird, walkers don't usually come this close to camp" Rick said in confusion. I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. I was deciding if I should tell them about the figure I saw earlier, but I didn't. It was probably nothing anyway, no need to worry the camp for no reason. I put down Delanie in our tent and went back out so I could put out the last fire. I was about to put it out when out of the corner of my eye I saw the figure again. It was hiding behind a tree, watching me. As soon as it noticed me watching it, it started running away again. I noticed Rick was still outside. I caught him just before he went in the trailer, "Hey Rick, did you see that, someone was watching us" he looked around and looked at me confused. "There was someone in the woods, watching the camp" I told him.

"Well, we'll keep a close watch, tell me if you ever see them again" he commanded. I nodded and headed back to mine and Delanie's tent. As I climbed inside I noticed she was already asleep. I laid down next to her and stared up at the tent. I yawned and slowly my eyes closed and sleep fell over me.
