The whole way home there was a certain boy that clouded my mind with thoughts of previous events replaying in my head."Caliban... what a strange name." I said to myself, stepping on satisfying leaves that gave a good crunch here and there. The way he carried himself, his demeanor, it was all so intriguing. He was like a magnet, pulling me toward him and I have no idea why.
I mean, Harvey is pretty attractive, but when I first saw him I didn't feel this way... and it's the same with the others, they're all attractive.
"It's just a stupid little infatuation is all, Y/N, it'll be over with in no time." I reassured. Usually I would be extra paranoid at night, especially in the woods. I would probably be looking behind me every 7 seconds. Though, like I said, all I could think about was him.
I finally saw a yellow beam in the distance, my dad must've turned on the front porch lights for me when I did get home.
I reached the steps and approached the door, I didn't feel like getting the spare key so I just knocked. Not long after, I could hear the lock being turned and soon the threshold was open.
"There you are kiddo, I was getting a bit worried." My dad stepped aside for me to walk in.
"Sorry... um, the principal can talk your ear off." I awkwardly laughed, going past him and into the living the room. "And I ran into a few of my friends rehearsing for a play."
As soon as the last sentence left my mouth, he grinned with a slight gasp.
"Friends? Already? That's nice! I take it you had a good first day then?"
I nodded, continuing to tell him all about it. I told him about Sabrina and the rest of the gang, even Caliban and how I only met him tonight. I did, however, leave out the part of my strange attraction towards him.
"Oh, and Sabrina actually lives like 5 minutes away in these very same woods. Apparently you go left from here and you'll end up at her place... speaking of Sabrina, she's gonna head over here tomorrow so you'll be able to meet her. Then we're gonna go meet up with the others and they're gonna show me around Greendale. That's okay, right?" I questioned. I always kinda had to get permission from him, and now I would just feel bad if I never told or asked him beforehand.
"Is that okay?" He scoffed. "Of course, dear!"
"Thanks, dad. I know it's only after 8 but I think I'm gonna go ahead and go to bed. Love you!" I stood up, walking up the stairs to my bedroom after we said goodnight. I thought it would be good to get a little extra sleep for the day tomorrow. I don't know when Sabrina was supposed to get here, but it'll be good to get ready sooner in the morning, just in case.
I went to my bathroom and brushed my teeth after washing my face. Once I was in my night clothes, I climbed into bed and turned off my lamp.
I closed my eyes, waiting to fall asleep.
5 minutes passed.
Then 10 minutes.
Then 20.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuck." I groaned, clearly incapable of entering dreamland. "Get out of my head! This is just weird, he's a stranger..."
I guess it wasn't that weird, it's technically the same thing as seeing your favorite fictional character for the first time and absolutely becoming obsessed with them. Except I'm not obsessed... yet. Gosh, I'm being such a creep.
"Can you like... I don't know, stop it." I knocked on my head multiple times, still picturing the wink Caliban had given me at the school. I decided to try and count sheep in my mind, it used to work so maybe it will now. It'll stop me from thinking of him, at least.
