•first meet•
You are always happy when you see her. She is very pretty. Prettier than you. You are chubby and awkward. She is tall and cute with beautiful straight hair. It's not wild like yours. You bet your mommy wouldn't have as much trouble brushing as she has brushing yours.
For some reason the other kids don't like her. You do. They make her sad. You don't want her to be sad ever so you smile at her. She notices you and grins.
She has dimples and you like her.

•first moment of attraction•
You think she is beautiful when she smiles, when she laughs, when she speaks, when she moves, when she does. Would mom and dad be upset? If you'd kiss her just once? You wonder what it would feel like. What would she do? You are her friend. She is yours. But you really want to kiss her on the lips. Just once. Maybe twice. So you ask if she'd mind. In the heat of the moment, you ask.

•first heartbreak•
She ran away. She has a boyfriend now. He is the hot guy on the football team and he kisses her on the lips a lot. Exactly where you want to kiss her. Like he knows.
She smiles at him. She still has dimples. Does she like him? Would she like you like you like her if you were a boy? Right now it doesn't matter. Because she's with him.
And you're sad because you still like her.

•first date•
She is at your door and she grins at you. Goodnight, Taylor. And you can't help but smirk slightly. Goodnight, Karlie.
She giggles like a teenage girl that has a crush on the hot guy on the football team. Except you're that hot guy. Except you're a girl, and you don't even think you're hot. Plus you don't play football. But it doesn't matter to her and she's all that matter to you. I really like you. She utters those words anyway, kissing your cheek, leaving pink, strawberry flavoured lipstick behind. And you hope its scent will linger for tonight. Always have, Taylor. It took me too long.
I really like you too. You kiss her cheek in return, leaving it sticky with your cheap lip gloss. You want to apologise. She shakes her head, telling you it's okay. And you need constant reassurance that it is. That she likes you. And she reassures you. And her eyes twinkle like they are heaven and more. And her dimples appear, like little indications of her happiness. Your happiness. You like her a lot. And you are sure that she likes you too.

•first kiss•
She looks at you and you look at her. She looks down and you look down. And up again. She runs a hand through her hair. She blushes as she tells you how beautiful you are. She is too. You want to tell her but the words are lost. A strand of hair hangs in front of her eyes with orbs like diamonds. You use your hand to place the lock of hair behind her ear. Everything is lost. Her lips are on yours. Nothing is lost.
You love her.

•first fight•
You are mad. She makes you scream. You make her cry. She slams the door. You are alone but you run after her right away to kiss her. Because after all these years you still want her.

•first time•
You kiss her. But it is different. You want. You crave. You need. She tells you she does too. She is on top of you and you think you're in a dream. She is on top of you and you love her. Legs tangled, moans caught in throats, needs fulfilled, love made. She is yours. You are hers. And it hasn't felt more like it ever.

•wedding day•
Her dress is white like her teeth. Your dress is creamy. Like her skin. She is by the chapel and you're in the doorway. She is smiling and you are happy.
You take your father's arm. He isn't upset. He's glad that you're happy. He likes her. They joke. They laugh. And you love them.
You take a step. And another. Until you reach the chapel. Her sisters with eyes like hers smile with dimples like hers. Your father lets go of you and you take your last step forward. She steps forward as well and holds out her hand. You take it.
And then she grins like she is at your doorstep and you are the hot football player. Still not a boy. Still not a football player. Still not hot, although she tells you you're beautiful. You smile as the tears fall on the floor. You say I do. And she smiles. She says I do and kisses you. You kiss her back.
And you love her.

•first child•
You are tired. You are in pain. You are scared. She takes your hand. You are ready. You lie down. Your hand is still in hers. The birth of your child in the doctor's. Relief and joy vanquishes agonizing pain. You forget pain and remember blessing. You cry as she holds your child. She hands it to you and you look at it, tears on your cheeks, a grin on your face. It's a boy.
And you love him.

•till death do us part•
You are in pain. They're in tears. You don't want them to be sad so you smile at them. You are in pain but you love them. You smile at her. Your eyes close. You love her. They open again. I love you. They close. I love you too. A strange sense of tranquility washes over you as you take your last breath.
You are at peace and you loved her.
