or girls

AU: Taylor's depressed after a break up so college roommate Abigail decides she should try something new. Like ballet. Or girls. Although she didn't mention the latter.

Or:
Taylor's not sure when being miserable turned into staring at her annoyingly chirpy giant of a ballet instructor but it did.
_______

'Honey, you need to get yourself together and move on. It's been 3 months.' Abigail says, ripping the carton of ice cream away from Taylor who in return whines loudly.

'But I love him!'

'No you don't. He's an asshole that cheated on you. You hate him remember?'

'No I love him!'

'What you need is a distraction.'

'I'm not gonna find a rebound nor am I letting you find one for me.'

'Not that kind of distraction. Hear me out. I signed you up for ballet for beginners.'

'Why would you ever think that's even a remotely decent idea!?'

'Just trust me, okay. Your class starts in 40 minutes. All the stuff you need I bought for you because I'm an amazing friend.'

And before Taylor can throw anything Abigail's way she's out of the room.

'I'm not agreeing to this!' Taylor shouts before burying her face in her pillow again.

Sure enough Taylor enters the correct studio exactly 40 minutes later, in the right attire.

'Oh my god hi! Are you my student?' A girl Taylor's age happily skips her way. '

'I was afraid no one was gonna show up again. Apparently there's not a lot of adolescents looking to try their hand at ballet.' The girl towers over Taylor as she grins at her.

'I'm Karlie by the way.' Karlie sticks out her hand and Taylor shakes it hesitantly.

'Taylor.' She mutters, still miserable to be here at all.

'Are you excited to become a pro, Taylor?'

'Sure, Karlie. Why not.'

~

It's been two hours and Taylor can honestly say she sucks and Karlie is a magical fairy that's just too perfect at everything and Taylor's not sure if she's annoyed or in love.

Every time she gives up Karlie tells her how great she's doing when really they both know she isn't, like at all.

After one too many times of falling on her butt Taylor stops Karlie once again.

'Look I appreciate your excitement for this but ballet is obviously not my forte.'

'Practice makes perfect?'

'No, I'm sorry.' Taylor removes her hair tie and runs a hand through her loose locks. 'It was nice meeting you though.'

'I'll miss you.' Karlie whispers to herself dreamily.

Taylor scrunches her nose in confusion.

'Oh gosh, did I say that out loud? I meant have a nice day.'

By now Karlie's face is bright red and it's not because of all the hard labour. Taylor doesn't want to giggle but she does.

'I liked spending time with you too, Karlie. We could, y'know, hangout when I'm a little more in my element.' Taylor suggests, subtly leaning in and taking Karlie's hand.

The ballet teacher bites her lip, trying her best to keep her eyes on the floor. 'Oh and where would that be?'

'How about a fancy restaurant?' Taylor honestly can't believe she's whispering into another girl's ear like this. And the fact that it feels organic is even more mind boggling.
Abigail is gonna freak.

Karlie giggles and blushes and grins some more before getting herself together and nodding. She looks up, into Taylor's eyes.

'That sounds lovely.'

'Oh it will be.'

Taylor feels like she's Karlie's Prince Charming and it doesn't feel weird at all. It feels nice, really. So she decides to take it a little further by planting a kiss on Karlie's cheek before taking a step back.

When Karlie looks at her again her eyes are a lot darker than they were earlier,

and what was first a grin is now more of a smirk.

Taylor can feel her heart in her throat as her instructor starts to lean in. She instinctively stand on her toes and allows the girl's lips to meet her own.

And what Taylor thought wouldn't feel like much feels like a lot. And at that moment it's so overwhelming that she pulls away.

'Are you okay?'

Karlie looks hurt.

Taylor nods, speechless. There's a dazed look on her face as she looks at Karlie like maybe this is what life should be like.

'Hey Taylor, are you sure you're-'

Karlie's interrupted by Taylor's lips, messily kissing as much of her skin as they can reach. Not hungrily but kind of like they're there to cherish every last inch.

When Karlie finds her voice again she speaks, Taylor's lips still desperately clinging onto her.

'Maybe we should have dinner first?'

Taylor's not sure if the tone in her voice means Karlie's uncomfortable or just as reluctant to stop kissing as she is.

'I'm sorry.' She mutters any way, fingertips tracing her swollen lips.

'You just taste like.'

Karlie giggles. 'Like what?'

'Like home?'

'Okay. Slow down there, Hemingway. I like you a lot too but maybe you should sit down and get some water in you before we get married.'

'Yeah.' Taylor agrees dreamily as Karlie takes her hand and leads her into the dressing room.

'That's probably it.'
