This was the first quarter of 7th grade, so I didn't quite know how hard the classes would be. I thought that I would get good enough grades from not studying, but it doesn't work like that. I had been so caught up in trying to get more friends and at least one boy to talk to me that I didn't care about my grades. It wasn't until the first 5 week check- in ( grades after 5 weeks or half way through the quarter) that I realized how bad my grades were. I had been so unfocused, I handed in an art project 5 days late, I had gotten 80's on all my tests (especially social studies and science), and my average was not good. It was my lowest average yet; 87. After that, my dad had snapped me back into reality: my grades will affect my college. I had been getting too distracted, I could have been messing up my whole future!!!! After that, I had been studying, finishing things early, doing extra credit, and now, my average is 93 by the end of the first quarter.
