Chapter 21 - recap

"Lucy," Sting purred, "I've had my eye on you for awhile now and-" he's cut off my my laughter.

"You've had an eye on me? So you had an eye on me while you had sex with Lisanna? Sorry to be blunt, but not even remotely interested," I laugh. Levy smirks beside me.

"Besides, she's off limits. Unless you want to be beaten by Natsu. Then by all means..." She shrugged. I lightly tap her arm and send her a look.

"What? I didn't say anything," she muttered. Sting looked unamused.

I wasn't sure but as he walked away it sounded like he muttered, "I'll get you one way or another Heartfilia..."

Chapter 22 - Sting and Lisanna are a Team

I rolled my eyes and turned my back on the rejected Sting. Levy giggled as we where walking away.

"He's a creep," she shook her head. I nod quietly. A creep who was after me, that's what he was. I quietly made my way to choir, where we had a free day. I spent the entire time refining my song, happy to have time to do that again.

The whole day continued slow, until at lunch I heard a bunch of "Ah, snow!" A girl sighed. A few more joined her at the window and watched the snow fall happily. I smile at the thought of the white fluffy flakes falling, adding more to the ground. If we got lucky we could get a few extra days of break.

Levy stared at the table of boys, where our boyfriends sat huddled with their friends. "Those dorks are up to something..." I muttered, taking a bite out of my pizza. Levy nodded, taking a bite of her own food.

I went through the rest of the day somehow refreshed. The thought of snow seemed to energize me. The second the last bell rang I tossed my work into the 'turn in' basket and hurried out the door. I slammed right into Natsu, and he caught me while steadying us.

"Hey careful Mrs. Dragneel, I can't have you injuring both of us in one go now can I?" He teased.

"Whatever," I roll my eyes after lightly hitting his arm. I decided I'd tell him all about Sting at home. As we headed out of school Natsu pulled my hood up over my head. He wrapped an arm around me and held me close to him. I looked around the grounds and saw Lisanna and Sting just out of the corner of my eye. They where whispering to each other.

I quickly looked away when things got heated between them, a slight blush on my cheeks. I hugged myself against Natsu, walking slowly with him. Suddenly he steps off the sidewalk towards a hill and wooded area in the middle of a small field.

"Why are you going there Natsu?" I ask, following him.

"I want to have a chance to run through untouched snow," he grinned as he made his way up the hill, not far ahead. I then lost sight of him over the hill. I reached the top not long after him but he had completely vanished.

"Natsu? Natsu!" I call his name, walking through the freshly fallen snow.

"Luce! I'm over here!" His voice drifted from behind trees. I grew hesitant, sure he had been near me only minutes ago. I slowly make my way into the tree line.

That's when a snowball exploded on my back, and I whirled around to face a grinning Natsu who was tossing another one ready to fire. I grinned.

"Game on," I challenge. I scoop snow as I duck from his most recent shot. I whirl one at him and it hits his chest. He pretends to have taken a fatal hit. He holds his chest and collapses.

"Ah Lucy! You're too good!" He pretended to cough,

"I don't have... much longer..." He hung his tongue from his mouth and pretended to die. I burst out laughing.

"That's a good look for you," I tease walking up beside where he lay. He peeks an eye open.

"Oh is it now?" He knocks my feet out from under me and shriek in surprise and land right in his arms.

"How does it look now?" He asks, holding me to him.

"Hm, you could use a bit more of the 'dead' look. Other than that, perfect!" I place a fleeting kiss on his cheek.

"Oh you're gonna wish I looked more dead Lucy Heartfilia," he said letting go of me to get up. I hopped to my feet and took off, leaping off hills and ducking between houses. I burst out into a deeper looking forest. I hear Natsu not far behind me so I race in and duck behind the largest tree I can find.

"I can see you Lucy!" He yells, coming closer. I squeeze my eyes shut and pray for him to pass. Then I hear feet stop near me. When I open my eyes they meet his, which are extremely close to mine. He's got me pinned against the tree, a smirk covering his face.

"You'll never escape me Lucy," he whispers menacingly before kissing me. I pushed him away after giggling. I shivered in the cold.

"Can we head home? I'm actually getting kinda chilled..." I murmur, my breath creating a cloud that soon dissipated after it left my mouth.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," Natsu agrees. He takes a hold of my hand and we walk home. The snow crunched beneath my feet, creating a rhythm. I hummed the song I sang to Natsu in the hospital. I started out soft but the hum grew louder. I could see him smiling beside me, remembering the song.

We got home and stripped ourselves of our outer layers. Victor brought us hot chocolate and directed us to the library, "out of upmost suggestion" he had said.

Natsu and I sat before a fire that had been burning, me reading to him. It reminded me of Beauty and the Beast in a way. When I started falling asleep Natsu carried me to my room, where I slept soundly with him holding me for a while. I eventually felt him left but I was too tired to protest. I just kept sleeping soundly.

When I wake up the next day I realize it's nearly ten. I leap from bed and race down the stairs, covering myself with a fluffy robe. I don't need to look for any more explanation though, when I look outside and see almost two feet of snow. I grin and race to the window, my robe swaying.

"Wow..." I stare at all the snow. "It's so pretty!" I gasp quietly.

"I'd like to think the beauty stands before me," I hear a voice behind me. I turn around and gasp.

Chapter 23 - It Happened

I felt tears on the brim of my eyes.

"Please stop!" I begged. He laughed, it was sinister. It sent chills down my spine--shaking me to the core.

"Don't... someone... please help me!" I cry, helplessly.

"Sorry babe, you're staying with me," he smirked.
