"First place goes to...Red Cardinal!" We roared and cheered. This was unbelievable,  I was relieved and overjoyed.

The prizes would be given to the houses at a later day.

Soon the programme came to a close and I was happy. We got back to the hostel and spend the rest of the day relaxing and contemplating all the different ways the day could've ended.

Amidst all the drama we tried to find time to pursue love. It's hilarious when I say that but in boarding, there are limited sources of entertainment.

"Hey, Ashlyn! who do you like?" I asked while lying on my bed with my legs up in the air, as I munched on the snacks from Cafe that we snuck in.

"Who me? Nobody," she said lying to my face. I and Amy confronted her again and she broke.

"Fine! I like Yen. I mean is pretty good looking. Nothing serious though." She said. Not making eye contact. Then I started to laugh.

Yen was the single hottest guy in our grade. Like I'm talking perfect black-brown hair and chestnut brown eyes, tall and well built with an amazing smile. Enough to make any girl or guy swoon. Except for mademoiselle LeeAnn.

'Why' you ask? You probably didn't. But I'll still answer cause, why not.

I often have a good intuition about things that are to happen. Sorta like vibes. When I meet someone I can automatically tell if I can trust them or if we'll hit it off or not. Gut instinct. Although I don't base my behaviour towards the person on my vibe about them.

Yen gave me mixed vibes and I wasn't into him. Didn't stop me from acknowledging his good looks tho.

"That's dope, Ashlyn! When are you guys gonna get together?" I probed.

All three of us laughed for no reason. Except for ...the sugar high.

"No...I don't want to be with him. Not interested." She said, rolling her eyes, which are pretty big.

We keep talking, laughing and playing silly games like 'Shag, Marry or Kill'.
We play a girls and guys edition, till the sun dips beneath the horizon and we blissfully retire to bed.

Poetic much? Yes. Yes, please.

Monday Morning,

By this time Athena was no longer in boarding. Since her old friends were no longer there and since she was in tenth, her mom pulled her out of boarding and out of my hair.

Phew.

After Youth Fest, the next major event was the 'Ist Mid Term Examinations' the preparations were well underway.  I was determined to score well. I had to...for my parents and my teachers.

Revisions and small tests had already begun.

I entered the class. As always first, I checked myself in the mirror of our class cupboard and waited at the doorway, watching for students. Just like back in Ever Moore.

Mahi came in and tugged at my ponytail with a smile, knowing for well that I hated people touching my hair.

I shoved the 5'10 guy away. The other hostel guys followed who I greeted with a smile, smirk or nod. Keeping it classy.

I walked to the washroom, in order to freshen up and run the time waiting for my girls.

As I walked to the washroom, being the klutz that I am I almost collided into someone walking up the stairs. I muttered a sorry before recognising who it was.
