I barely slept that night, by morning I was utterly exhausted and had bags under my eyes. I stretched as I stood up and decided to get dressed for the day. I threw on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie before making my way out to the living room. Bokuto stood in the kitchen, drinking a glass of water and eating a bowl of cereal.
"Morning, how are you feeling?" I avoided looking at him as I spoke, pretending to rummage through my bag for something.
"Mm, bad headache, but I had the weirdest dream last night with you in it, Akaashi! It was wicked." I lifted my head just for a moment to gaze at him taking a big bite of cereal and munching on it.
"Oh? What was the dream about, Bokuto-San?" I swallowed hard, as my hands slowed their pace through my book bag.
"Oh, nothing I wanna share! Besides, I don't like you like that anyhow!" This made me pause in my tracks, he remembers, but he thinks it was all a dream. I hurriedly zipped my bag and slung it over my shoulder,
"Uh, I just remembered I'm going to be late for class. I'll see you later." Before I could engage a response, I rushed out the door and hurried down the steps. I ran into Kuroo at the base of the complex. I also hadn't realized that tears were beginning to run down my cheeks until Kuroo stopped me,
"Woah, bro what happened? I was on my way to check on Bokuto this morning. Are you good?" Pure concern covered the Jet's face. I could sit here and lie, or just confess the truth. Truth seems better.
"Bokuto... He thinks what happened last night was just a dream. He flat out said he doesn't feel that way about me, and wouldn't even tell me what the dream was about." The tears that formed on my face were quickly dried by the strong winds that whipped through the air. "It's better I just hear the truth now anyway instead of later."
"I'm sorry, can I do anything for you?" He sounded genuine, and yet I wanted nothing more than to be alone, and yet not alone. At this point I had an idea of where to go.
"No, I just need space. I appreciate the offer, I appreciate you checking in on him, you're a great friend, Kuroo." I waved him goodbye before setting off in the direction of the station. It didn't take my feet long to find the direction of Kenma's house once off of the train, a pure comfort zone.
I didn't bother knocking as I entered and looked at Kenma. He patted the seat next to him and I shuffled over to curl up next to him as he played video games. The room was filled with silence other than the sound of his video game and the clicking of the controller.
Kenma more than likely already knew the extent of the situation. Kuroo always tells Kenma everything. It calmed me to know that I could have a friend who wouldn't bother asking what was wrong or talking about it, and instead waiting with me to make sure I'm okay while doing something completely different.
My eyes were just about falling shut when rapid, uncontrollable, knocking appeared at the door.
