5th of August (evening):
After a drive of 20 minutes, Daan arrived at her home. She still didn't fully understand what her coach just told her. But most importantly, how was she going to bring the news to her family? She was unsure whether she should be super excited or super sad about this next big step that was laying at her feet. What kind of clubs would offer her a new contract? She had many questions.
Daan sat in her car for a couple more minutes after she made it back home. "Will they just read my face and know that I have something to tell?" Daan asked herself. "Maybe they will think I am now fired or something....". Daan had to get herself together and step out of the car. "Okay. Poker-face is on. Let's go" she said, trying to boost her own confidence.

Daan opened the door of her house, after she almost dropped her keyes because of her nerves. It was 18.26, so the family already started eating dinner. "Hey heyyy" Daan said whilst closing the front door behind her. "What's the reason behind you being this late?" Her dad asked. "Oh, yeah. Uhm. Well. Yeah the training went on for a bit longer then planned"  Daan answered. "Just admit you have a girlfriend Daan" her sister responded quickly, trying to make Daan awkward. "Tsss you know I would if I could, but I'm stilllll single" Daan answered without feeling awkward since she successfully proved her little sister wrong. "Just sit down honey, I prepared your favorite food" Daan's mom said to her. "Thank you, mom."

"So, how was the training?" her dad asked in a curious way."oh, yeah. Well we had to make pictures for the new season! So that was fun...kinda" Daan answered. "Aah. Was that the reason for you being late then?" mom asked soon after. "Yes! Exactly" Daan said, whilst knowing that she just let the opportunity slip to bring the news to her family. "Oh the food is delicious by the way" she said, trying to bend the conversation into another subject. "Oh thank you darling" her mom responded, "I'm glad you like it".

After dinner Daan walked upstairs to her bedroom, like she always does. She always has to study in the evening because she has no time the rest of the day, usually. But this time, she had nothing to study for, since it was still summer break. Daan still went upstairs though. "UGH. Why am I such a pussy! Why can't I just tell them the news. JESUS" Daan said in her head as she sat on her bed with her door locked, so nobody could come in at any moment. Daniëlle's mom started questioning herself why her daughter went upstairs, since she just realized that there is nothing to study for right now. And therefore, she went upstairs to check on Daan if everything was alright. She tried to open Daan's door, but obviously couldn't since it was locked. "Daan? Why is your door locked?" She asked. Daan heard her mom and decided, in a split-second, to finally break the news. "Oh hey mum! Oops, the door isn't supposed to be locked. Wait, I'll open it for you". *click clack click* "thanks hun". "So, why are you here?" Daan asked to her mother. "Oh I just wanted to check up on you. I found it strange that you went to your room to study... during summer break..." her mum responded. "Oh haha, yeah. Got a point there... well, there is something I should tell you about what happened today" Daan said. This was hard for Daan to do, but she did anyways. She didn't want to be a pussy. Her mom sat down onto Daan's bed and said "come here honey. Sit next to me, and tell me what's wrong". "Okay, so, long story short: the coach and the manager have decided to put me on the transfer list for when the upcoming season has finished. They believe that I'm ready for a new, big, step in my career. I'm quite scared to tell you this, but I hope tha-". Daan couldn't even finish her sentence because her mom interrupted her with "OMG that is amazing news! My little girl will be joining one of the big big BIG clubs next season!" whilst hugging Daan tight. "Lol, I didn't expect this answer" Daan said to herself in her head. "We need to tell this to the rest of the family! Come on, let's head downstairs" her mom continued. Daan didn't really have choice, as her mom pulled her from the bed and almost slurred her downstairs because of her enthusiasm.

"EVERYONE! Daan just told me that she will transfer to bigger club when this season has finished!" her mom shouted towards Daan's dad and little sister.
They both reacted way different than Daan originally expected, and were super duper enthusiastic. Daan was relieved as hell to hear the great response of her family. "Lesson learned. From now on, I won't be the pussy I was today. Ever".
This was a lesson that Daan would also use on the field from now on. It was a great life lesson to just let things happen, and conquer them and eventually beat your fears.
