You were incredibly nervous. You were wringing you're hands in fear, the inevitable is about to happen. Shoji is coming over for dinner to meet your family. You're not worried about meeting Katsuki, seeing as he already has and approved of your relationship. Your father wasn't of concern either, he's too timid to care. It was your mother. Ah, yes, Shoji was about to meet your mother, Mitsuki Bakugou. The woman who has the exact temper, sometimes worse, than your twin brother.
"(Y/n), dear, could you come down and help me with dinner before your boyfriend shows up?" Your mother asked sweetly. You replied and made your way to the kitchen. Just like Katsuki, your mother never raised her voice at you and had the biggest soft spot for you. Mitsuki still loved her son, but they always manage to get under each other's skin.
You strolled into the kitchen to be met with the smiling face of your mom and the sight of Katsuki wiping down the counters while grumbling. You giggled at him and he pouted at you.
"Hey my little ember, cut you these vegetables for me will ya?" She asked and set a cutting board on the counter and handed you a knife. You smiled and nodded and she set various vegetables on the cutting board. You sweat dropped at the amount and looked at your mom wearily. Katsuki looked over and gawked at all the vegetables.
"Hey you old hag, we're not feeding all of Japan! Don't make her cut up all of those vegetables. Damn." Katsuki all but yelled at your mom. She slammed the spoon she was using to mix the soup on the counter and turned around with a murderous glint on her eye. Oh no. Their tempers are gonna get the best of them. Like mother like son.
"Shut up you damn child, I'll do what I want!" She yelled back while pointing her finger at him. He stuck out his tongue at her and she flipped him off. All while your father was flailing his arms in the background trying to get the two of them to calm down. What a wonderful family you have.
"No, no,mI don't mind to cut these up. Besides, dad loves mom's soup so he'll probably take some to work with him as well." You say nervously while rubbing the back of your neck. Mitsuki and Katsuki finished their glaring contest and she turned back around to tend to the bubbling soup. You shot a smile to your grumpy brother and he smiled back.
About an hour later, a knock came to the door. Already knowing who it was, a nervous knot formed in your stomach as you raced to the door to answer it before anyone else could. You opened it to be met with a smiling Shoji without his mask on. You beamed at him and went in for a hug, happy to have him in your arms. He hugged back and pulled away a moment later.
"Hey come in, mom just finished making the soup, let's go eat." You say while pulling him inside. You lead him over to the table where your mom just finished setting up and serving the soup in five bowls. All of you join at the table, Shoji next to you and Katsuki across from you while your parents were at each end of the table. All of you began to silently eat, an awkward tension filling the air.
You cleared your throat and began to speak, "Uh, the soup tastes really good mama." She smiles at you and wipes her mouth with a napkin.
"Thank you dear, I couldn't have made it so well without you, not like your good-for-nothing brother helped." She says in a sing-song fashion.
"Shut up you damn hag! I cleaned the entire kitchen and dining room for you, I didn't have to do it!" Katsuki retorted right back to his mother. She only replied in flipping him off again and flicking a piece of potato from her soup at him. It bumped him in the nose and he proceeded to throw a carrot at her, latching in her hair.
"Uh! So um, mom, dad, what do you think of Shoji?" You asked as you tried to avoid a food fight between your mom and brother, knowing those only end in the entire family cleaning the dining room. Your father nodded with a thumbs up and timid smile while your mom snapped her head to look at Shoji.
"Oh, dear, well he seems sweet and I do believe he treats you well," she begins but stabs the fork she was using for her salad in her table, "but if you ever hurt my little ember, I will be far more scary and ruthless than any villain you have ever met or fought in your life." She finishes with a sickly sweet, closed eye smile.
Shoji gulps before answering, "I wouldn't dream of hurting her, ma'am. I love your daughter more than anything." You smile at him and grab the hand that was resting on his knee and intertwining your fingers. Mitsuki pulls out her fork and puts a beaming smile on her face.
"Good! I'm very happy my daughter is happy with you, welcome to the Bakugou family." she says while finishing her soup. You laugh at your weird, but loving family and think of how blessed you are.
Nothing could be better than this.
