Henry's family ran to his side as Aria stood against Pan. Before he could fly away she tethered him to the ground. He may be harder to fight against, but Aria was still stronger. She still believed, her determination alone would fulfil her sacrifice to save Henry.
"You can't win," Aria threatened Pan. His response was simply to grin. He knew what she had to do to save Henry and either outcome worked for him. Either way, he gained power and immortality.
"So do it Lost Girl. My brave and scared little Lost Girl. Whatever happened to that fire of yours?"
Aria stood firmly, but stayed still. She had to think about this carefully. Was her sacrifice really the best outcome?
"So what's it gonna be? Finally facing your death and you're scared? What happened to your love, the one you claimed for me?" Pan poked, his words echoing her heart's scars.
"I had hoped, no... believed that my kindness, my love would reawaken yours."
Pan scoffed, "come on! You really thought that would work?! You know me Aria, you watched me try to kill you FOUR times!"
Aria nodded, "I know, it's why I understand. You can't feel it anymore, you're consumed by it," she slowly pulled Henry's heart from Pan's chest and returned it to him. Pan relished in it all, knowing Aria had finally obeyed his command, that she had broke in the end for him. He waited and watched as Aria hurried away the others for their own safety, reminding them of the Pandora's box that held their companion inside. When left with the two of them, Aria gently took her heart from her chest and smiled bittersweetly. "I was always right to fear you."
Pan was complacent, "of course. I never blamed you for doing so."
"That promise, to never kill me. Does this count?"
"It's your sacrifice, which may I add, you are very good at delaying," Pan replied, allowing Aria her final moments.
"Well Pan. I hope that with my heart you love again. Neverland loves you, our sunshine. I love you."
Aria pushed her own heart into Pan's chest, collapsing as she did so, at the feet of the Lost Boy.
Pan grinned, holding the heart of Neverland inside him felt exhilarating, the power that surged through it, the immortality. Freedom. He looked down at the body of Aria. He brushed aside the hair from her face and frowned, if only she had obeyed him, had joined his side then it would be Henry who died, not her.
He left her there, collapsed by his timer. A reminder of what exactly he was unsure, but a reminder all the same.
As he went to join his Lost Boys he found them gone, all but his one friend Felix. "Where did they go?" He demanded to know.
"With the heroes, they took them to Hook's ship."
"Go with them. I need a boy on the inside."
Felix left on Pan's orders, the only Lost Boy still obedient whilst Pan stayed behind to gather some things he'd need. He headed to his hut and collected some items for his revenge. He wasn't going to let them get away from him so easily and their so-called Storybrooke was going to know what happened when you play a game with Pan.
Everyone knows Peter Pan didn't lose.
As he made his way back across Neverland towards the fleeing heroes, he found himself reminiscing the past like Aria had desired him to do so. As he swam in a pool of his own memories, he also saw the ones of the heart and much to his surprise he saw the memories of Aria.
Groaning with the strain from all the memories coursing through his head, Pan stopped and stood, clutching his head in his hands. He was feeling everything at once, the love of the Heart and its feelings of being used. But then he felt everything Aria had felt, including everything long before she had found him.
