"Please come inside." The woman guided her in, leaving the other two to wait.

Tenten stepped inside and then gasped. Neji lay with a million different tubes and moniters surrounding him. What shocked her most was his deathly pale state. His skin wasn't white, it was gray. His normally smooth hair was a tangled mess and bandages covered him.

"It looks worse than it is," The woman said, "There is an 80% chance he'll be just fine tomorrow."

"What happened?" Her brown eyes gazed at her fiance, still in shock.

"Hit and run, or at least it was supposed to be, the driver died on impact."

"..." Tenten was both relieved and angry that she could not get her revenge.

"We will be taking some more tests over the next 2 hours. You can come back then and stay as long as you like."

"Thank you, um, Ms.?"

"Tsunade. My husband went through a similar incident."

"Thank you, again," Tenten was guided out to face the two men.

"Is he okay?" Now that Tenten had calmed down somewhat, she could see the obvious regret in Sasuke's eyes.

"80% chance he'll be fine, I can come back in 2 hours."

"He'll be fine ya know?" Leave it to Naruto to be the optimist. Inside, Tenten knew she should apologize, but she wasn't quite ready.

"Why don't we go eat? Anywhere you would like to go?" The Uchiha was not any good at comfort so he relied on what cheered his boyfriend up.

"Ino's," Tenten said.

"Never heard of it."

"No, I want to visit my friend, Ino," Tenten said realizing her lack of clarification.

15 minutes later...

Tenten walked up to the front door of a very modern house and rang the bell.

"Coming!" Ino's voice was as loud as ever. The door opened, revealing Ino, as Barbie-like as ever.

"TENNY!!!" The blonde was about to lunge at her when she saw Tenten's face and obvious signs of crying.

"He's in the hospital," Tenten read the question in blondes big blue eyes.

"Omigosh, come in, Sai will make you some tea," Tenten walked in, the sleek wall mirrored her state back at her. Sai seemed to have gotten taller, but that was it.

"I'm sorry for intruding."

"No, no, no, don't apologize!" Ino sat Tenten down on the sofa. "If you're comfortable, tell me what happened." And so, Tenten told her everything, the case, the mug, the alert, and how she blew up at the Uchiha.

"Oh hon, I'm sure they understand. You don't have to apologize until your ready." Tenten sipped her tea, the familiar flavor washing over her.

"Ino, dinner is done." Sai's ever emotionless voice came through the hallway.

"Tenny, come join us, please." Reluctantly she agreed and followed the blonde.

Time skip again munch chew...

"I have to go back," Tenten said after looking at the time.

"Do you want us to drop you off?" The blonde looked at her friend.

"No thank you, I'll be fine." The brunette paused, "Thank you for the meal."

Back at the hospital

Tenten barely gave Karin a glance as she handed Tenten a pass. Going up the elevator wasn't nearly as stressful, even though it was playing some new pop song. Finding the room she wanted, Tenten knocked on the door. A woman opened the door, short black hair, black eyes, and a piggy necklace.

"Miss Tenten? I'm Shizune. We have just finished up tests. Please come inside." The woman was fidgety and seemed to be in a rush.

"Tsunade-san, are the percentages the same?" Tenten immediately asked the blonde upon seeing her.

"Yes, he should be awake in a couple minutes. I'll leave you two be." With that, both women left. Tenten waited, moving Neji's hair out of his face.

"Tenten?" It was barely a whisper, but she was filled with happiness.

"Neji?" He smiled.

"Guess I should've been more careful."

"I'm so happy you're okay." Tenten was crying again.

"Why are you crying?"

"I'm just so happy you're alive." The Hyuga saw the bags under Tenten's eyes, no doubt from all the worry he caused.

"I love you too, Tenten." Neji reached up a wiped away her tear. "Go ahead and rest, I'll be fine."

"I love you so much," Tenten obliged, but not after repeating that one line three more times. Neji asked Tenten about her day and they held normal conversation.

"What did you eat?" The Hyuga asked his fiance.

"..." Looking over, he discovered she had fallen asleep.

"Sweet dreams." Neji then, too, fell asleep.

Time skip to morning.

Tenten awoke and immeadiately realized something was wrong. Frantically, she looked at her fiance. Her heart stopped and all thoughts froze. The heart moniter had been unplugged, yet he was just as pale as yesterday.

"Neji?" her voice wavered.

"NEJI?" No, this couldn't be happening! The door opened, revealing a solemn Tsunade.

"I'm sorry."

"What do you mean? He was just alive and breathing! We were making plans for the wedding! He can't be dead." Seeing other figures at the doorway, she saw Naruto and Sasuke with puffy eyes.

"He's alive, he has to be!" Tenten was going into hysterics.

"Miss Tenten, you have to leave." Sasuke's voice wasn't nearly as authoritive as usual.

"NO!" Tenten grabbed Neji's hand, "I won't leave!"

"Come on Tenten, it's time to go, ya know?" Naruto was sniffling.

"You're all lying!" Tenten knew they were right, but she didn't want to accept it. Sasuke pried away her grip, pulling her out the door.

"I should've stayed up." She was filled with regret.

Back to the present.

"Would things have been different if I stayed up?" Tears began flowing down Tenten's face, blending in with the rain. "Maybe I could've realized something was wrong."

"I loved you so much." She took one last look at the grave before turning away.
