The Baseball Player and The Softball Player

Chapter 7

Kenzie's POV

Practice was a success todayyy. I was thinking as we all walked up to my door.

I walked through my door and was greeted by my dad huh wonder where mom is.

"How was your first day of coaching?!" My father asked.

"Great!! I found someone who is going to be just like me when she's older.. She can pitch like I did at the age of 10 if not better. Ask Maddie and Jacob they were pretty amazing." I smiled walking to the kitchen. I grabbed 3 juice boxes and some grapes. Instantly Maddie and I started tossing grape to each other and catching them.

"You really found a girl as amazing as you?!" My father asked.

"Mom I'm not even kidding. She was like amazing!!" I laughed throwing another grape in the air and Maddie caught it.

"Jacob common come get in this!!" I laughed throwing a grape at him. It hit I'm in the chest. And Maddie and I dropped to the ground laughing. Omg that was amazing!! You should have seen his face it was priceless!!

"Okay kids knock it off." My mom said walking in.

The door bell rang so I went and got it since my mom was making us lunch and they don't live here. I opened the door...

"Omg." I screamed jumping in the arms of my older brother who has been over seas for the past 2 years.

"Brother. W-what are you d-doing here?!" I started crying. My mom walked in with Jacob and Maddie smiling.

"You all knew?!" I asked.

"Why do you think I wasn't home tell after you got home?!" She asked.

"I've missed you. brother this is Jacob. jacob this is my brother Dylan." I said hugging him tight.

"Sargent Dylan." My brother corrected me.

"Oh yeah Sargent." I said looking away for a second remembering my oldest brother Kyle. Tears began to form. See my brother Kyle is also a Sargent.. I haven't seen him since freshman year.. That's 4 yeas ago... The last time I heard from him was when he was on a base a couple months back..

"So have you seen Kyle?!" I asked.

"Yes I saw him right before I left he asked me to give you this." He handed me a letter that said 'lil sis<3'

I opened the letter and read.

Dear lil sis,
I'm sorry I've missed most of your life. I missed watching you grow up. The only thing that makes it a little bit better is that I get to see pictures.
Sis you don't know how hard it has been over here and I can't explain either. I haven't seen you in 4 years. I'm trying to get a little bit of leave for your graduation in a couple weeks. But I don't know if it's gonna work. Sis I know Dylan comes home all the time and I don't but it doesn't mean I love you any less. I heard you found s boy. Mom told me. Jacob? How's he doing? So he's a baseball player? Any better then my or Dylan? Probably not. Sis I know that you've been wanting to follow our foot steps and be in the army with us but please sis don't. I don't want another sibling over here just to be close to me. I'll come home soon enough but until then only pictures will do. Tell Katie I love her and miss her and give her the ring I picked out before I left and had you hid in your room. Remember that one? The one I told you I needed you to hide tell I came back. So I could purpose? Kenz I don't think I'll be coming back for a long time if I come home maybe like a weekend. Lil sis please. Take her to dinner and give her that ring. You don't have to do the purpose thing just say 'here Kyle wanted me to give you this and take you to dinner for him.' But do NOT and I mean do NOT tell her I'm coming home anytime soon I don't want her hopes up. I got to go give this letter to Dylan before he leaves but sis I love you.

I fell to my knees and started balling. I ran to my room and went into my drawers I don't remember which one. I began grabbing drawers and throwing things out of them until I got to my swimsuit drawer I grabbed the drawer and threw all the clothes out until I found the little blue Tiffany box. I opened the box to reveal the ring I picked out with Kyle when I was in the 8th grade.

I ran down the stairs grabbing my phone purse and some money form my moms wallet and grabbed my car keys and ran to the car and drove to Katie's.

Katie lived an hour away she moved a little bit out of the city after Kyle left and told her he wanted that house she now lives in. She was always around when he was in high school. But their junior year he finally made them official and asked her to be his girlfriend they lasted through the rest of high school and are still going strong. She's flown over to London and he flew to meet her for a weekend a couple months ago. That's when I talked to him last. I should write a letter back when I get home..

I pulled into her driveway there was 3 cars here 1 was hers.

I knocked on the door. Expecting her to open the door but it wasn't it was- omg what?!!
