Lyndsey BrooksI wrestle with Gabriella for the gun, shooting Carlos in the process. When the gun fires, the echo hurts my ears. As I reach up to cover my ears, I see Gabriella point the gun at me. I knock the gun out of her hand and it skids across the floor. She scrambles to get it, but I wrestle with her so she can't get it. As it fires when she reaches for it again, the gun shoots the wall near Constance, and my fire burns brighter. I scream at her and the next time the gun fires, she's the one on the ground. I take the gun with me so she can't shoot me, and I jog over to Constance even though my body is screaming at me. I wince with each step, but as I get across the room and kneel in front of her, I start to cry.
"Lyndsey, I love you....." I hear her weakly whisper, and I start to cry, pressing my hand on her wound. I grab my phone after putting the gun down, I called 911, giving them an address a few buildings away. I put my phone in my pocket and gently pick her up, taking my Constance a few buildings down to wait for the ambulance, tears streaming my face. The ambulance pulls up, laying her, my darling Constance, on a stretcher. I climb in the back with her, crying and holding her hand.
"I love you so much, Constance.... I'm so sorry you were here.... You never should've been here.... It should be been me...." I whisper to her, crying. She looks paler than usual and I keep seeing her bright smile replay in my head, making my heart hurt. I cry and hold her hand to my heart, pouring all of my love into her through that one touch. The hospital ride seems like it took forever, and I rush alongside the bed while holding her hand, her perfect hair with a little bit of dried blood in it. The paramedics tell me I have to go, and I give her a miss on the cheek, tears streaming down my face.
"I love you, Constance," I whisper before they whisk her away.Later
It seems like an eternity and a half before a nurse calls me over and talks to me regarding Constance's condition.
"Well, she had to have surgery to get the bullet and fragments out, but luckily there wasn't too much internal bleeding, so she should recover quickly. She has an IV for painkillers, so she may be a little loopy."
Before she even finishes, I interrupt her, "When can I see her?"
"I was just about to tell you that if you would follow me, you can see her now." The nurse looks a little annoyed, but she sends me into Constance's room.
"Oh, honey....." I start to cry when I see her. She waves me over and I hug her gently, her weakly hugging back.
"I love you....." Constance says, slurring a little from her medicine.
"I love you, too... more than you will ever know...." I whisper to her and rest my forehead against hers, smiling gently at her.
"I took a bullet for you, Lynds, I think I love you more," she whispers to me.
"Yeah, but I would do it, no hesitation, no questions asked, just to keep you safe, " I whisper back.
"That's what I did," she says, trying to laugh, then winces.
"Don't laugh, love, I don't want you to get hurt...."
"Okay... My mom got called and she doesn't know about me being gay... She wouldn't take it too well, especially right now. She's on her way I guess, but she won't come I don't think...." she says.
"Hey, she's your mom and she loves you, and she's coming to see you, okay?" I ask, kissing her lips for a second before there was a knock on the door, and I moved away from her before the door opened.
"Miss? Your mother's here to see you..." the nurse mumbled before letting Comet's mom in.
"I should.... give you two some privacy....." I whisper before exiting the room. I look back at Constance, her eyes pleading for me to stay before I exit.Constance Knox
"Who was that girl?" Mother asks me as soon as Lyndsey exits the room, and I scowl at her.
"She saved my life!" I quietly yell at her.
"Don't have that attitude with me, young lady!" Mother scolds me, her eyes dark, making me slightly regret my calling her out.
"Why do you care who she is, anyway? It's not like you've shown interest in my life before today anyways, not unless it's making sure I look perfect to uphold your reputation! Why would I want to look like you? You're a whore! I know what you do when I'm not home!" I start out calm, then start yelling at her. She looks as though I've slapped her, as she reaches over and slaps me, hard, leaving my cheek stinging.
"I warned you, little bitch!" My mother yells before storming out of my room as Lindsey rushed in at my side, holding me as I sob.A/N: Hey, guys! I'm SO sorry that it's been four months-ish since I've published anything. Life's been weird, and I didn't have the time or resources to write. Okay, I had all the time, but I didn't have a laptop or anything. I missed writing for you guys. I thought a nice closing would be better than another cliffhanger. I wasn't sure how long to make this chapter, so I left it at that. As always, leave recommendations and comments below!~ I love you all and hope you stay safe!
