~Chapter 3~

Lucy's POV

We finally made it to the guild. I stopped right outside the doors and took a deep breath before pushing the doors open. As soon as we entered the guild hall chaos took over. Chairs were being thrown through the air, tables were smashed against walls and I think there's a naked guy trying to find pants.

I turned to Plue in confusion, "Is this Fairy Tail? I could've sworn the map said this was the right location.." I trailed off as I looked at the mess in front of me. Just as I was about to leave a girl with long white hair came over to me, she was beautiful.

"Hello Ms and welcome to Fairy Tail! My names Mirajane but you can just call me Mira. Do you need any help?" She asked with a kind smile on her face. I smiled back and introduced myself. "Hi, my names Lucy! And no, I'm just here to pick up a request and earn some money." I said happily. She looked at me with in understanding and led me to the request board.

"Well Lucy, this is all the requests we have in right now. Once you pick one out just find me at the bar and I'll stamp it for you." She informed me and then made her way to the bar. I gave her a small "thanks" and looked over the flyers.

There's one for finding a lost jewel, that might be interesting but it's too far away and too low of a price. Ooh! Here's one for fighting a giant water snake. Nah, the pay is good but I'm not a big fan of snakes. Just as I was about to give up I saw a flyer that was old and wrinkled. I got a closer look at it and read quietly to myself.

         Please find and exterminate the beast in the woods. It hunts and kills our livestock and we're desperate for help. We have a reward of a million Jewels for anyone who can kill this creature.

Wowza! A million Jewels just to get rid of an animal. Now that I can do! I snatched the paper off the board and made my way over to Mira. "Hey Mira! I found a good one." I said as I handed it to her. She quickly glanced over it and gave a hesitant nod before putting it down."

"Um Lucy, there's one thing you should know before taking this job," She said, I gave her a curious look and motioned for her to continue. "A few other wizards have taken this job and they all came back critically injured. They couldn't even tell us what the creature was because it moved too fast. I'd just be careful if I was you.." She said seriously as she stamped the paper. I gave her a nod as I took the flyer and stuffed it in my pocket. "Thanks for telling me Mira but I think I'll be alright." I said as I gave her a wave and made my way out of the guild.

As I made my way back down the dirt path I remembered the creature I encountered by the creek! Maybe it's the same creature! I thought. Even though I had an uneasy feeling about this I still felt a little bit of excitement about discovering what the creature was.

Before I knew it we were right outside the woods. I looked down at Plue who gave me a nervous look in return. I smiled and pat his head in reassurance, "Don't worry Plue, I'm sure everything will be just fine. I said as I made my first step back into the woods.
