(Sophie's POV)

Sophie was quietly setting the table. She was finally going to meet her new roommate. She made her famous lemon pepper crusted chicken. Then the door opened and a beautiful girl with soft brown waves and heart-shaped lips walked in. She had a suitcase in her hand, and a purse hanging from her shoulder. Then the boy from the coffee shop came in with her other suitcase in hand. Sophie went and helped the girl, who said her name was Biana put her stuff away. Keefe followed her.

"Hi Keefe. I didn't realize that you were going to be here." She smiled. He blushed.

"Do you two know each other?" Biana asked. Keefe said "yes" at the same time Sophie said "no". Keefe explained the little mishap at the coffee shop, while Sophie went to finish setting the table.

"Keefe, would you like to stay for dinner?" She asked, trying to be polite.

"If it's not a problem, that would be nice." Biana went to sit down, and Sophie went to get the food. Keefe came to help.

"You can go sit, Keefe. I got it." She smiled to reassure him.

"It's fine. I like to help. By the way, I heard what Stina said in the coffee shop." Her shoulders drooped. She had really hoped that he didn't.

"Sorry about that. Stina likes to make fun of me. I'm used to it." She walked away before he could say anything else. He followed her. They all sat down in awkward silence. Keefe decided to break it.

"Sophie, this is very good chicken. How did you make it?" Biana agreed.

"You just season it and cook it over the stove with a little olive oil." She shrugged. Once they were all done and Keefe left. Sophie did the dishes, and changed into pajamas. She started to look at her book, but then her mind wandered to what Keefe had said in the kitchen. Then a stubborn tear escaped and rolled down her cheek. Biana came in and asked where she should put her suitcases. Then she realized Sophie was crying and came over to comfort her.

"What's wrong?" Biana asked. Sophie quickly wiped her tears away and told her she was fine. Biana walked over and sat on the bed with her.

"Really. I know that we just met, but we're roommates. We need to help each other." She handed her a box of tissues.

"It's just this girl at the coffee shop where I work. She was always so mean to me. She told me that when Keefe helped me today, she told me I was a mess and that I wasn't good enough. She told me that he was just using me. I know that this is really petty, but I just wish that I never had been born." She sighed. Sophie got up and wiped her tears.

"What did you need?" She said, hoping Biana would drop the subject.

"No way. Who is she?" Biana patted the spot next to her and Sophie went to sit with her

"Her name is Stina Heks. Her mom owns the shop where I work, and she takes advantage of the fact that I need the job because my adoptive parents can't afford it." Then she realized what she had just said.

"You're adopted?" Biana asked. Sophie could only find the strength to nod.

"My parents and my sister died when I was 5. I've been in foster care for most of my life, but Grady and Edaline made my adoption final.  My parents died in a car crash, I wasn't in the car. I was at my friend's house. They were on the way to get me and go to the beach, but then they were hit and were killed." Biana stayed quiet. She slowly wrapped her arms around Sophie and let her cry on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry. I've never told anyone that before. I didn't mean to dump this on you on your first night." Sophie was just glad that tomorrow was her day off work, so after sleep she free.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" Biana asked.

"Nothing. I'm taking tomorrow off work, I'm gonna call in sick. Why?" Sophie was confused.

"We're going to do something fun. I have an idea, we'll have a girls day." Sophie was surprised. Then her phone rang. She didn't recognize the number, but Biana told her it was Keefe's.  She picked up.

"Hello?" She said.
"Foster?" She laughed. It was Keefe alright.

"Hi. How can I help you?"

"I was wondering, are you free tomorrow night?"

"Yeah. Biana wants to do something with me tomorrow. Probably a shopping and spa day. But I'm free around 7. Why?" She was wondering. Was he going to ask her out?

"Umm.....Have you been crying?" She swore under her breath.

"Yeah. Anyway, what did you need tomorrow night?" Looking for a subject change.

"Fitz and I host a movie night on Sundays during the summer, and on Fridays during the school year. I was wondering if you wanted to come?" He sounded hopeful.

"Sure. Who's Fitz?"

"Biana's older brother."

"Oh. Ok, I'll see you there." She was about to hang up when he asked another question.

"Why were you crying?" She took a deep breath.

"I was thinking about Stina. Then the night my parents died. It's been a rough night. I'm calling in sick tomorrow, so I won't be at work. I'm also going to try to sleep in."

"THE GREAT SOPHIE FOSTER WILL SLEEP!!!!" He literally screamed into the phone.

"I guess. Night Keefe, see you tomorrow."

"Bye Foster, try to sleep well." Then he hung up, and she could practically hear him smirking through the phone. The Biana walked in with hot chocolate with marshmallows., and the two roommates stayed up and talked like old friends.
