Albus' pov:

Scorpius stared at Albus in horror as he basically fell about the room, supposedly 'dancing'.
"What the hell is that," he said. Albus turned looking mildly offended.
"What do you mean what the hell is that. I'm dancing, obviously!" It was the night of the Yule Ball and they were in their dorm room about to get ready, when Albus decided to 'dance'.
Scorpius just raised an eyebrow, replying simply "That. Was not dancing."

"Oh yeah, well what was it then, hm?"

"That, was undignified flailing," Scorpius' voice became a lot more poised and Malfoy like, when he was talking about things like dancing, and the fact he knew french fluently, and other typical rich Malfoy things that you learn by being part of a family like his.

"Well, ballroom dancing wasnt exactly a priority when I was growing up. It was more quidditch, and throwing things at James,"

"Well you can't bloody well be dancing like that in front of 3 damn schools. Come here," he concluded, standing in the middle of the room, with perfect posture, and put Albus in the correct position to start. Albus huffed but went along with it, taking Scorpius' hand as he started to guide him.

"You need to be elegant, and calm. Not like you're trying to stamp on some poor creature." There was a pause, "And keep your arms still. It's simple feet motions," Albus looked down to copy Scorpius' movements slowly. He began to get the hang of it, and Scorpius told him to look back up. He was doing quite well at not stepping on his feet, but Albus was starting to get distracted as he really noticed how close the other boy was. It was only a few inches; he could feel his soft breaths, and hear him counting quietly as they moved. Albus couldnt keep eye contact with him, he knew he would start blushing uncontrollably. Scorpius licked his lips absent mindedly which almost sent him into a frenzy, and caused him to trip. Scorpius berated him, but mostly let it slide. Albus decided that was enough and told Scorpius that he'd try and remember all that, but no promises. He then left quite suspiciously quickly from the position they were in, to go get changed, leaving the other boy alone in the room.

Scorpius' pov:

"What the hell is that," he said. Albus couldn't look more offended at the comment, but he couldnt help it. He looked like some poor animal trying to learn how to walk, and he was not going to let him dance like that at a ball.

"What do you mean what the hell is that. I'm dancing, obviously!" Oh yeah, of course, how could Scorpius not notice that. He raised his eyebrow and said, "That. Was not dancing."

"Oh yeah, well what was it then, hm?"

"That, was undignified flailing," he had been taught how to dance from a young age, among other things like the piano, french, and even fencing, which always seemed strange to him, when they had magic. But it helped with posture, he supposed.

"Well, ballroom dancing wasnt exactly a priority when I was growing up. It was more quidditch, and throwing things at James,"

"Well you can't bloody well be dancing like that in front of 3 damn schools. Come here," he moved to the middle of the room, acquiring the correct posture, putting himself into the ballroom headspace, and waited for the other to join him. Albus let out a sound of weak protest, but obeyed so he started to guide him.

"You need to be elegant, and calm. Not like you're trying to stamp on some poor creature." He said, but he started to believe that maybe this had been a bad idea, because damn he was only a few inches from Albus Potter's face and was dancing around the room with him, hands intertwined and bodies flush. He tried to continue speaking. "And keep your arms still. It's simple feet motions," Albus looked down to copy Scorpius' movements slowly, which isnt usually allowed but Scorpius needed a moment to compose himself more, and he guessed it was helping the other boy get the hang of it. He began counting under his breathe to try and keep steady, he then told Al to look back up, once he had regained some poise mentally, and their eyes met for a few moments. Only a few but something happened, and Albus' cheeks seemed to flush slightly. Scorpius licked his lips out of instinct, whilst having to breathe manually to keep them from shaking, as Albus tripped, slightly. A moment later, Albus decided that was enough, and told Scorpius that he'd try and remember that, but no promises. He felt an instant loss of warmth as the other boy disconnected his body, and practically ran from the room.
