Abyo, Ssoso, and Garu were getting ready for the feast behind the dressing curtain that Chang had put up in the dojo while the girls were getting ready on the other side. He had asked that all the students dress their best at the dojo, so they could be introduced properly. Even Ring-Ring showed up, all prepared, because Chang told her if she tried to be "fashionably late" he hopes not being there at all is even more so. It was a bit awkward for Garu because he hasn't seen or heard of Ring-Ring since their disagreement. She hasn't even shown up for classes in the past four days. It was considered normal though because most class time was used for practicing the feast presentations. Abyo whispered to Garu, "You gonna be okay with her? I know confrontation is a bit scary for you" Garu nodded, hesitantly. Abyo stuck his collar up, "OKAY, How do I look?" Abyo wore his gold kung fu uniform, but this time they've been separated into two pieces, so he doesn't risk ripping off his pants. Ssoso wore his orange Buddist uniform. Garu was wearing a black ninja yoroi with a blue belt that Chang bought for him for this occasion. He hated to admit it, but Garu felt good about how he looks. Abyo yelled, tauntingly, "Are you girls almost done putting on your dresses and lipstick?" Ching yelled back, "No! Do you need to borrow ours?" The entire dojo laughed. "Aw, c'mon Ching! I'm serious!" "I'm just putting the final touches on Pucca! And... DONE!" Ring-Ring yelled out, "Finally!" She pushed aside the curtain. Ring-Ring had on a pink kimono with a rose petal design and her hair in a side ponytail with curls on the bottom with red and pink makeup. Pucca had a big bun in the same style with a red open haori over her black juban with a red heart, almost like Garu's old uniform, and had black sparkle ribbon bracelets. Ching had almost the same thing except with a pale yellow juban and a black haori. They didn't wear makeup in case of their presentation ended with them being sweaty. Abyo smiled, "You guys look great!" Garu made eye contact with Ring-Ring who quickly turned her head away. Pucca walked up to Garu and held up two dark blue ribbons and points to her hair. Garu nods a bit and sits in a chair. Pucca undid his pigtails and brushed his hair. Garu took a deep breath in and out. The peace between them now is weird for Garu. He would always run away, get scared and would have to shield himself. He had to relearn how to act around Pucca. This new normal was strange, but a lot more calming. Pucca wrapped the ribbons around his pigtails, matching it with his outfit and she tapped on his shoulders in morse code, 'How do you like them?' Garu smiled and raised a thumb. Pucca giggled and Chang walked in with a green button-up. "There is a lot of people out there. I'm going to go out there and say my speech and you will come out on the cue. After my speech, I will ask everyone to sit and enjoy your presentations. Abyo and Ssoso will go first, then Pucca and Ching then finally Garu, we will enjoy your games and finally eat. I'm glad all of you have decided to help me expand the classes here. I'm proud to have students who are eager to learn and share their knowledge of martial arts. Thank you so much. Let's have fun!" everyone except Ring-Ring cheered. Chang stepped out onto a platform outside the door that had a microphone on top of it. It seemed like everyone in town was there. The sun was almost gone, causing the pink lanterns to glow warmly. Chang smiled and grabbed the microphone. "Hello, Sooga Village! I am Chang, the instructor here at the Turtle Training Hall! We're here not only to show you our students, what they've learned, and to decide for yourself if you want your child to join, but to also celebrate our students. Many of our students are growing up, choosing to take different paths but also planning to take the lessons they've learned to heart." Garu looked at his friends. They really did plan to continue with their teachings, but different paths? Are they really leaving? Will he be the only person in his class that will continue to stay while his friends leave him behind? He shook his head. He needs to focus on Chang's speech. "I'll introduce you all to my first class and they'll show you their skill presentations!" Ching and Garu push the slide doors open and they all walk through and stand proudly. There were claps and cheers for different students. Ring-Ring gave a sharp look to Fiyah, making him and the chefs cheer loudly for Ring-Ring. After enjoying the moment for a bit, Chang announces, "Let's enjoy the fight between Abyo and Ssoso who have planned a stagged fight." Everyone but Ssoso and Abyo got off stage. Ssoso carried three boards and his staff and Abyo took off his shirt and began to do a few practice hits in the air. Ssoso then threw two planks at Abyo. Abyo punched them in half then charged at Ssoso and punched the final one broken. Ssoso grabbed his arm and threw him to the opposite side of the stage. Abyo tried to stop as soon as possible and Ssoso ran to Abyo spinning the staff and was about to strike Abyo in the head. The crowd gasps, thinking the show now crossed from staged to a real fight. Abyo crossed his arms, guarding his head then quickly uncrossed, pushing the staff and making Ssoso lose his footing. Abyo kicked him in the shoulder, causing him to fall, then he jumped high. When he began falling, he angled his leg to kick him crying out, "HIIIYAHHH!!" Garu rolled his eyes. Typical Abyo. Ssoso grabbed the staff and held it up. Abyo's foot hit the staff, causing it to crack, but he fell down in the process. Abyo jumped back, causing both to go into a fighting stance. Ssoso and Abyo stared at each other for a bit. Ching, Pucca, and Garu all looked at each other. Most of the fight was staged, yes, but the intensity, the realism, and emotion felt too real. They wondered if they'll have to go upstage to break it up. It was their move. 10 long seconds of them standing, then they both straightened up and bowed to the other. Everyone sighed in relief, clapped or cheered for the hair raising performance. Boys began copying the moves. Chang and his pupils grinned. The presentations are working. As Abyo and Ssoso got off, Pucca and Ching got on. "Now, these two girls, Pucca and Ching, they love their martial arts, almost as much as looking nice, which is why they planned this." Ching began to swing her swords around a bit, blindfolded, then pointed at Pucca who had an assortment of items around her. Some being flower baskets on carrying poles and a few balls. Pucca twirled the baskets, a bit then threw them into the air. Pucca then ran to Ching, threw her up, then threw the rest of the baskets and the balls up to the sky. She then ran a bit into a tornado, so they would be spinning, when Ching made it to the center. She began cutting the flower baskets in half, cutting flowers, and kicked the pole down into the stage. When she kicked down the final pole, Pucca stopped running. The orbs were all in a circle around Ching where she spun quickly, slicing them in one fluid motion. The orbs dissolved into a fine glitter and fell down, with Ching. Ching landed with her sword stabbing the stage. Pucca stomped on one of the edges of the poles, making them all jump and she kicked everything to one of the surrounding walls. The poles had turned into the outline of a turtle, the baskets were its head, and the glitter and flower petals had decorated the turtles. Everyone was in awe that they were able to make that design with those movements. Pucca looked over at Garu and he waved at her. It wasn't a surprise that Ching and Pucca were able to make a spectacle. After seeing what Pucca was able to come up with HIS moveset, and helping him perfect it without actually able to do it herself, he should not be surprised that she comes up with amazing things. Ring-Ring rolled her eyes and muttered, "How tacky." Garu shot a dirty look, but he climbs up the stage, ready to show what he and Pucca worked on. "Now, I'm now proud to present my star student. Garu has been learning from me since I've began teaching. He's always gone beyond my standards and he makes me want to be a better teacher and teach more students. Now for his presentation." Garu got a couple of logs and began kicking them up. He grabbed his sword, jumped up and sliced one log into very sticks. He used his garusion-illusion and they all used the sticks to split up and begin slicing all the logs and using those slices to jump to another log. When they were done slicing all the logs, they all use a lightning jab downwards on the slice, spreading out to the other slices, and causing a huge light. Everyone gasped and Pucca clapped excitedly. All the clones began to spin rapidly as they were going down, they all disappeared. Garu and the tree ashes landed so hard the ground began to crack and leave a big crater. All the visitors covered their eyes and when the dust settled and they opened their eyes, Garu left a crater and a lightning bolt mark with the ashes. The townspeople were speechless. If everyone can learn at the same level as Garu, Sooga would take over the world. Garu began to fidget nervously and he then looked at Pucca. Pucca was jumping and clapping in joy and his friends were doing the same thing, cheering as well. The crowd then began to clap and cheer along. Garu smiled then bowed. Chang patted Garu's back, saying he did a great job. Garu walked over to his friends. "That was awesome, Garu!" "Why haven't you sparred me like that?!" Pucca ran over and gave Garu a hug. The hug shocked Garu because she hasn't done anything like this in a long time. She must've been so proud of their hard word that she couldn't have been able to hold back. Garu hugged back, tapping on her back. 'You did a good job designing that. I would have never been able to come up with something they'll like.' Pucca backed up and tapped on his hand, loud enough to be a clap. 'You did amazing! It was so awesome, seeing you work like that! You deserve all the credit!" Garu wasn't able to look her straight in the eyes, seeing how bright they were. He was only able to clap back. 'Couldn't have done it without you." Ching and Abyo didn't know morse code but, they loved the vibe between those two. "Yes, all the students are amazing. It was with their hard work, talent, and dedication were they able to perfect their martial arts. I promise that I'll do my best to bring all future pupils to the levels Iknow they can reach. Sign up and I'll teach you what you'd like to know. Kung fu, karate, ninjitsu or even a mix of the different fighting skills if you'd like. Join the Turtle Training Hall. I will answer any questions you have. Please enjoy the activities the students made and stay for the wonderful meal the Goh Rong Chefs had made for us." Chang put up the mic and the crowd scattered. A few had left, some took their seats at the tables, and kids ran to the games. Ssoso was excused and promised to put up all the things in the morning. "Let's go, play some games!" Pucca jumped up and agreed with Ching. Garu looked up and saw Ring-Ring talking with Ayo then gave Abyo a look. Abyo pat his back. "I'm here if things go wrong." Garu gestured his head at the girls. "Okay, I'll make sure they don't hear." Abyo goes to them and bets he can shoot more hoops than them. They ran off. Garu turns to Ring-Ring, takes out his phone and takes a huge breath, then walks to her. Ayo was looking around dully at everything until he saw Garu. "Oh, hey, Garu!" Ring-Ring gasped and turned around. Garu looks at Ayo and tilts his head to the side, asking for him to leave. "Okay. Good luck, Miss Ring-Ring." Ring-Ring glared at him as he walked away. Garu grabbed his phone and showed the text he sent before he blocked her. Ring-Ring pursed her lips, "...You're still waiting for your apology?" Garu nodded. Ring-Ring flipped her hair. "I meant what I said and I said what I meant. Those guys are not worth it. I gave you good advice and you expect me to feel sorry? No. If you don't take what I said seriously, you're a waste of my time. Tell Ayo he can stay, but I'm leaving. Goodbye." she walked away leaving Garu speechless. Did she just drop him out of her life? He expected it to be the other way around but, oh well. He walked to Ching, Abyo and Pucca. Abyo threw a ball at a bunch of milk bottles then bragged about knocking down 5 out of 6 of them, making Ching laugh and Pucca roll her eyes. Garu smiled and kept walking. How can these guys not be worth it? Pucca set a milk tower with 6 milk bottles as the base. Garu walked up behind Abyo who scoffed, "No way you can knock all those down Pucca." Pucca threw a fast ball at the bottom, causing them all to fall down, one hit the table in a weird way, then hit Abyo in the face, making him fall over. Ching laughed harder and Garu held a hand up, letting Pucca high five them. Garu and Ching helped Abyo out. Abyo held his forehead. "I think my dad gave the chefs a cooler of ice in case they need it." The 4 walked over to the chefs. Garu helped Abyo stay up as Ching got the ice. Pucca went to Uncle Ho who asked Pucca to take a bowl of seafood soup to a woman. Pucca made it halfway before being stopped by Ayo. "Hey, Pucca. Do you mind if I asked you a question?" Pucca smiled and tilted her head. "How come you don't talk? Garu and Abyo told me you can talk sometimes, but why can't you talk?" Pucca's eyes widened, she began to tremble and his words began to fade out. "Is it a disorder? Something wrong with your throat, vocal coards? What is wrong wit-" CRASH! Everyone looked over. Pucca dropped the bowl of soup to the ground and began backing away. Dumpling and Ho asked lightly. "Pucca?" "Are you okay?" Linguini looked at Ayo, "What did you ask, punk?" Garu began walking calmly towards her. Pucca shook her head and began running. "PUCCA!" "Garu! Go get Pucca!" Garu immediatly ran after her, the festival and yelling at Ayo and for Pucca, faded. Garu tried to keep following the black juban, but he couldn't keep up. Pucca was too fast. He knew that from her chasing days. If she wanted to catch him, she could. If she wanted no one to follow her, they couldn't. When she took a right and Garu followed, she was nowhere to be seen. Garu looked around and tried to think. He finally remembered where to go and immediatly ran to the direction of the restaurant. Everything around him was a blur and he didn't know how he didn't run into a tree. Questions barged at the door and went up the stairs. He knocked at Pucca's door rapidly. Once... twice... after the forth time he just went in. she wasnt on her bed. He ran around the restaurant, hoping to see her, bujt nothing. He hit his head lightly. Maybe the giant cliff where she cried, he remembered that she loved the view from up top. He ran there. Maybe she went up to clear her head, so she could come back with an answer. He looked around the edge for her. He began to text her, rapidly. "Pucca!" "Are you ok?" "Please say something." "pucca" A few seconds passed and Garu's fear turned into anxiety. He looked at the call button. The vow was important... but this is even more important! He pressed the call button, and put the phone to his ear. The ringing made him even more nervous. The call went to voicemail. He called again. If it went to voicemail again, he'd speak. The third ring got cut off and went to voicemail and his phone dings. He quickly looks and sees a text from Pucca. "Garu im sorry. Ayo asked something i couldnt answer. I wanted to be alone. Please leve me alone right now. Im telling uncles where i am. I just want to be alone." Garu sighed in relief and sat down. He was still shaking. His phone dinged again. "Thank you for caring about me. Good night." Garu texted Abyo quickly, asking if everything was okay there. Abyo texted back, "Yeah. Linguin left to get Pucca after she texted Dumpling where she was and after he and I stopped yelling at Ayo. what happened with her?! Is she okay?!" Garu looked up to the sky and looked at the Funny Love constilation. That is what he want to know as well. Pucca... what happened?
Okay, sorry it took me a while. I had other books to publish, but the real reason behind this note is because I wanted to ask you guys to tell me if I got kimonos wrong. In this chapter, we have women wearing kimonos because the event is semi-formal and kimonos are pretty to me. I know they are generally seen as a Japanese thing, but a google search said that Chinese culture inspired kimonos so I thought it was okay. I know that they most likely didn't do backflips, martial arts or any of the stuff I mentioned here, however, please tell me if I got it wrong or right so I know what to do, next time! Thank you!
Got any criticism or anything to say? Please let me know!
Progress on the book will be made on my weekly reports!
If you have any questions, comment or dm me.
Hope you like it and see you soon
