I SIGHED DEEPLY as Scotty asked for what seemed to be the millionth time if we were in California yet. Ever since the first 2 hours of leaving he's been asking since and it started getting on my nerves.

"No Scotty we're not there yet maybe if you wouldn't ask for the millionth time we would be!" I shouted at Scotty but not too loud to where my stepdad and mom would scold me.

"Jeez Sel okay" Scotty then turned his head towards the window.

I then went back to looking down at my phone, scrolling through Instagram. I saw a post of a girl who I followed who was currently in California. The post made me smile, considering the fact of how much fun I would have there.

I only kept going through my socials when my eyes started to slowly shut signaling I was tired, I then let sleep consume me.

I MUST HAVE been sleeping for quite a while, because when I awoke we were already pulling into the driveway of our new home.

I rubbed my eyes and checked the time that currently read 4:30. I stepped out of the car and took a good look of our house. It was decent sized, a little bigger than our old one.

The house was a pink color.

"Hey Selena come get your boxes and take them to your room, as soon as you're finished I want you and Scotty to take a walk around and get to know it here a little bit more" my mom chirped happily.

I obeyed and got some boxes and took them to my room. As soon as I got the rest of them, Scotty was already waiting at the door for me. Not all of our belongings were here so we didn't have everything, but we did have most.
The rest of our things would be here in a couple of days.

"You ready Scotty?" I asked smiling as I ruffled his hair.

He returned his smiling gesture and followed behind me. We didn't have a clue where we were going, just prayed we would find our way back.

Me and Scotty made small talk while we walked, we talked about all sorts of things. We were both quite happy about the fact school just let out, and we had a whole summer ahead of us her in California.

We decided we would head to a Darry Queen Scotty spotted on our way to the house when we heard a bunch of shouting. Curious to what it was, we followed the way it came from. We ended up at an entrance of what seemed to be a decent sized field of boys playing baseball.

"Should we check it out?" Scotty asked me and I nodded.

We walked in and saw 8 boys spreaded out. There was one boy who looked my age who was batting although I couldn't get a good look of him because his back was turned against Scotty and I. Plus we were a little far from all of the boys.

I heard a loud noice coming from behind me. When I turned my head to look at what it was I landed on a old looking green fence that seemed to be faded.

I guess I wasn't paying too much attention because then Scotty tugged my arm, running pulling me along with him. Not even 20 seconds later we made it out.

"Scotty why'd you do that?"

"The ball flew my way and...I went to throw it back b-but it didn't go far at all and all of the boys laughed at me...except for the one who was batting...he just stood there."

Scotty seemed to have a look of embarrassment on his face, but I simply took his hand.

"C'mon let's head to Darry Queen and forget about it."

Scotty gave me a light smile and we went our way.

ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES later, we made it home. We still had some time before heading to bed. I unpacked some things and while doing so I listened to some music on my speaker.

After finishing it was only 9:30 but I was tired, so I decided to head to bed. I remembered what Scotty had told me early about all of the boys who laughed at him when he threw the ball at the baseball field.

The thought made me smile a little, only because I knew what type of boy Scotty was. He was innocent, and to my dismay he didn't know anything about baseball.

Oh Scotty... how I love you baby brother.

heyooo babes, this is chapter one, kinda boring... I know but the next one won't be as bad because Benny will be in it ;) love you all - britt
