Chapter 9

Zedd: we're almost there. See that place beyond the mountains?

They look in that direction.....
Chase: damn that place is huge
Adris: so do they speak the language of Alfieana or.....
Zedd: [laughs] some of them understand the language of Tierra.
Scott: I know a little about the language of the four realms. My book is entirely in that language I can read it.
Zedd: you all can.

They continue to walk. Then they all stopped at the same time......
Rose: I guess everybody sensed that?
Zedd: we're not alone here.

They hid. Then they came out and ambushed the men they found, captured one and bravely fought and killed the rest.

Scott: [held the prisoner to a tree by his neck] what are you doing in these woods?
Man: [shivering out of fear] we were sent to kill the protectors and him [looking at Zedd].

Chase: and we are destined to kill you! [He stabbed him].
Man: [out of pain] ahhh!! [He died].

Rose: these were in red and black uniforms the first were in mere clothes.
Zedd: the first are bounty hunters, we all have bounties on our heads.
Chase: people are getting paid to kill us?
Rose: no catch us. I think Zeus would want to do that himself.
Scott: well good luck with that we can't be captured.
Chase: then who were those?
Zedd: they are the d'haran soilders Zeus' army.
All: ......... [They continued on their journey].

Zedd: we can rest for the night.
Adris: [laughs] tomorrow we....
All: train!
Zedd: no playing around this is serious.....
Scott: of course Zedd.
Chase: killing the fun yet again.

They all lay down to sleep in pairs while Zedd slept alone.
Adris: thank you Zedd for everything you are like a father to us you know.
Chase: yeah.
Zedd: it's my duty you don't have to thank me.

[They all fell asleep].
The next day was a little sunny. They all woke up ready for a fight.

Chase: shall we...
Zedd: wait [the four stop] you four are brave and have been a huge joy in my life. One thing I must tell you is you all are leaders and duty takers. You have both my job and Ganduff's responsibility. You have to be brave and strong and don't let your emotions control you, victory does not move with emotions. Remember I told you that no matter what happens you have to stay together.

Scott: I feel like giving you a hug.
[Zedd opened his arms and they all hugged him. There was a sound in the bushes].

Chase: [gets ready to fight] did you hear that?

A group of people came, some had weapons others had none. Rose and Chase were about to charge at them.

Scott: wait!! [Rose and Chase stopped. Scott roared and the people without weapons roared too and their eyes were brown.
Scott: my pack [they all smiled].
Rose: who are these with you?
Man: the last warriors of Alfieana, adversaries.
Adris: we are the protectors.

Man: we know, we have tracking you for days..... Zedd.

Zedd: Richard Willan. He is the keeper of adversaries he leads the Alfiean army.
Chase: I'm Chase....
Richard: we know your names and who you are. There is a bounty on your heads.
Rose: we fought bounty hunters the other day.
Richard: we're here to fight with you.

They all began travelling together then they met another group of D' harans which they fought.

While.......
Back in the city of Alfieana Zeus Rahl and Valtol were busy plotting against the protectors.

Zeus: tell me what's going on?
Valtol: our plan is working. I sent troops to the black mountains and by the gates of Alfieana. The ones at the gates are all dead and right now the ones at the black mountains are in war.

Zeus: I don't see how that's a good plan.
Valtol: we know where they are they are close by. I have a spy watching their every move soon we'll destroy them all. Tonight I go to the black montains.
Zeus: ....... [Smiles].

The spy that was watching them was hiding in the woods following them around.

Zedd: it will be nightfall soon let's rest here. The mountains are peaceful.

They settle at the mountains to rest. In the middle of the night Valtol ambushed them silently. He came with many D'harans and bounty hunters and with one creature. It was a sad moment many Alfiean warriors and wolves died that night. The creature was killed by the protectors. Chase went after Valtol. Valtol was a very powerful wizard so he managed to capture Chase.

Zedd: [left the war and chased after Valtol] VALTOL!!!! LET THE BOY GO!!!
Valtol: Zeddicus Z'ul Zorandor dear brother.

Zedd put all his might to save Chase. He managed to get him out. Chase stood next to Zedd to fight.

Zedd: go I'm right behind you.

Chase ran to his friends while Zedd put all his might to kill Valtol and he did, but in Valtol's last dying breath he chanted a very powerful spell that brought lightning to strike Zedd and he dropped to the ground and died. The protectors wanted to rush to him, but Richard and troops pulled them back. They cried so much and were drugged away. They were taken to a nearby village where they found refuge.

Richard: this is where we hide away, come you are welcome.
