The city never sleeps, never rests and never slows down. The bustle and hustle from roads will always echo through the air, with crowds rushing from one end of the world to the other, never sparing a moment to breathe.

I walked though the ever moving crowd, losing myself to the noise that sought to drown me.

The world had long forgotten the simple pleasures of life. The meaning of taking long sweet walks into the the sunset. The beauty of spending time gazing outwards into the horizon. The scenery that lay all around us had become just a blur in our fast paced world. It was boring to see people running from place to place. It was a lacklustre shade of gray.

It was then I spied a break in that monotony of rushing souls, in a almost obscured corner of the street.

Her pristine furry paws tapped across the cemented gray pavements as she strolled towards a stray puddle.

Every step she took was carefully calculated, slowly but surely inching closer to the puddle like a predator stalking its prey.

Her bushy tail wagged gently as she moved even closer to the puddle of water on the ground. Her slow movements belied the tension that she felt. The seconds ticked by and she finally got into position, poised and ready to strike. Her ears perked up and her eyes were filled with a steely glare.

With one swift leap, she jumped right into the center of the puddle, sending droplets of water into spiralling through the air.

She pranced about in the tiny puddle. Her tiny paws flinging water in all directions. She danced and flailed wildly, just like an infant playing in a pool for the first time. Her excitement was contagious and a smile crept across my face.

As she played ever so fervently in the puddle, her fur became damp, tiny droplets clinging to her tiny body. Yet, she didn't seem to mind.

The onslaught of noise and boisterous crowds didn't seem to faze her. It was as though they didn't even exist. All that mattered to her at that point was just the simple puddle of water and the fun that she was having.

She rolled and tossed and turned in the puddle as she made the cutest of meows. It was truly a sight to behold. The epitome of happiness encapsulated into the small furry body of this kitten.

After awhile she began to stop. She had her fun and it was time to move on to the next fun thing. She shook herself dry and waded off to the next adventure that stood waiting for her.

Her tail fluttered in the wind and she sashayed onwards valiantly. With each step she took, she left tiny wet paw prints on the ground. The droplets of water on her fur shimmered and dripped off to the sides, leaving a trail of water behind her.

As she strolled towards me, her bright green eyes seemed to stare into my soul. Her snow white fur was a perfect contrast to the bleak gray pavement.

She raised her tiny head and glanced at me, her piercing eyes full of both curiousity and wonder. Whiskers twitching ever so slightly.

It was a picture perfect moment.

I raised my camera gently and brought it to my eye. Before she got the chance to look away, I exhaled slowly and... Click.
