Chapter 12: The Lapse

Cole and Lexi were roused from a deep sleep by what seemed to be a commotion at the dock. Thankfully, they were already decent before someone knows about what they did.

Lexi stared at Cole for a second with a worried look on her face. He, in return, gave her a smack on the lips and lightly pressed her hand to assure her that everything's gonna be alright. They came out of the yacht which left everyone wondering.

"What's the meaning of this Lexi? Did you spend the night in the yacht with Cole?" His father asked calmly but with a hint of displeasure in his voice. His wife, who was holding his arms said under her breath "Honey..."

This time, Anton confronted his son. "Cole? I believe you have some explaining to do, young man." he warned him. Jasmine, for the first time since they got married expressed her feelings about what she thought was right for Cole. "Babe, don't you think it's proper to talk to him in private? This isn't the right venue for this."

Lexi who has been trembling inside gathered all the courage she could muster to answer for the both of them.

"Y-Yes dad! I spent the night with Cole. I made love to him...An--"

"Lexi Marie Towers! I don't think everybody needs to hear about--" she interrupted her dad. It's now or never for Lexi.

"No dad! I'm dying! It could be now, tomorrow or the next day, only heaven knows! And I don't wanna regret doing things I'm not supposed to just because I'm young or I'm vulnerable! I'm ticking like a bomb, dad...and I feel it won't be long..." Lexi broke down in tears. Cole held her close.

"We didn't mean it to sound that way Cole, Anton...Jasmine. Believe me, perhaps I could also speak for Mike; we like you for our daughter Cole. It's just that we don't want something to happen to her. We're just being extra careful." Evelyn said amidst her tears.

"I understand Auntie Evelyn. I don't want her to die either. I have loved your daughter since elementary and I apologize greatly if I took your daughter before marriage. I love her so much that everything last night become so sudden." Cole was still holding Lexi against his chest. He noticed that her skin was slowly turning clammy. She swayed a bit but he was attentive of her every move.

Lexi looked up to meet Cole's eyes but the latter got surprised at the unexpected flow of blood from Lexi's nose. "Babe!" 

Their parents were horrified when Lexi completely blacked out and collapsed on Cole's arms. Jasmine radioed the security who then rushed to the scene with their first aid kit. Anton instructed her wife to call 911 as Lexi's blood pressure dropped. 

"Honey, pack up our things! We will get Lexi to St. Mary's Hospital at once!" Mike told her sobbing wife. Between the two, he was the one who's calmer and more collected.

"Dad, I'll go with them to the hospital. Please? I have to be there for Lexi!" He's becoming more frantic by the minute. He held her in his arms the entire time while they waited for the medics to come.

When 911 came, Mike decided to go with Lexi to the hospital in an ambulance while Anton drove Evelyn off to St. Mary's. Jasmine had to stay for Maddie who was coming  home from a slumber party.

Cole on the other hand rode his motorcycle and followed everyone. He can hear the loud thumping of his heart in his head. He was panicking.

Everything that happened from the time Lexi and her family came into the island flashed before his very eyes. And just like that, tears began to well up yet again.

Lexi, hang tight! I'm coming! If I have to defy fate just to be with you, I will babe! Nothing can separate us...not even death!

Cole accelerated a notch to make sure that he'll arrive at the hospital sooner. He closed his eyes...tears fell and it was all black after.

(Scene: Frame comes in like a"person" opened his eyes and scenes of an ambulance and some paramedics attending to an accident. Then a police car came rushing to the scene blinding the "person" then fade to white.
